Job Description:
A lathe operator sets up, runs, and tends lathe or CNC turning machines to cut, shape, and turn metal, wood, or plastic parts. They read blueprints, choose proper tools, and check finished items with precision measuring gear to meet exact size and quality rules.
Main Duties
- Set Up Machines: Read blueprints, technical drawings, or job orders to plan the work sequence.
- Operate Equipment: Run manual or CNC lathe machines to perform turning, facing, drilling, boring, knurling, and threading.
- Inspect Parts: Use tools like micrometers and calipers to test that parts match required sizes.
