Job Description:

Position:      Asst. Manager - HR

Location:       Gandhinagar

Experience:    6 - 8 Years

Responsibilities:        

  • Plant HR Management
  • Manage day-to-day HR activities of the Gujarat manufacturing unit.
  • Act as the HR point of contact for employees, workmen, departmental heads, and plant management.
  • Ensure implementation of company HR policies, systems, and procedures at the plant.
  • Maintain discipline and consistency in HR practices across departments.
  • Coordinate regularly with Corporate HR regarding manpower, policies, reporting, and employee-related matters.
  • Manpower Planning & RecruitmentWork with departmental heads to understand manpower requirements.
  • Maintain sanctioned versus actual manpower for each department.
  • Identify vacancies, manpower shortages, and replacement requirements.
  • Handle recruitment of officers, supervisors, technicians, ITI personnel, operators,  and other plant-level positions.
  • Coordinate interviews, selection, documentation, reference checks, and joining formalities.
  • Ensure vacancies are filled within agreed timelines.
  • Develop local recruitment sources for technical and plant manpower.
  • Attendance, Leave & Payroll Coordination
  • Ensure proper attendance and shift records for all employees and workmen.
  • Monitor absenteeism, late coming, overtime, leave, and shift deployment.
  • Ensure accurate attendance inputs are provided for payroll processing.
  • Verify overtime and other manpower-related payments.
  • Maintain proper employee records and documentation.
  • Labour & Industrial Relations
  • Maintain healthy and disciplined relations with workmen and contractual labour.
  • Handle day-to-day grievances, disciplinary matters, and employee issues.
  • Support management in maintaining a productive and stable industrial relations environment.
  • Ensure disciplinary procedures are handled fairly and properly documented.
  • Understand shop-floor concerns and resolve issues before they develop into larger problems.
  • Contract Labour Management
  • Monitor deployment and attendance of contractual workers.
  • Coordinate with contractors regarding manpower availability and discipline.
  • Ensure contractors comply with applicable labour requirements and company policies.
  • Verify contractor manpower records and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure that contractual manpower is properly utilized and unnecessary deployment or overtime is controlled.
  • Statutory & Labour Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and statutory requirements.
  • Maintain statutory registers, records, notices, licences, and documentation.
  • Coordinate compliance relating to PF, ESIC, gratuity, bonus, minimum wages, contract labour, and other applicable requirements.
  • Coordinate with labour authorities, consultants, and auditors whenever required.
  • Ensure there are no avoidable compliance lapses at the plant.
  • Performance Management
  • Coordinate implementation of KRAs, KPIs, and performance review systems at the Gujarat unit.
  • Ensure employees have clearly defined responsibilities and reporting relationships.
  • Follow up with department heads for timely completion of performance reviews.
  • Maintain records of performance, development requirements, and corrective actions.
  • Training & Employee Development
  • Identify training requirements in consultation with departmental heads.
  • Prepare and coordinate the plant training calendar.
  • Arrange technical, safety, behavioural, and supervisory development programs.
  • Ensure new employees receive proper induction and departmental training.
  • Maintain training records and assess whether employees have benefited from the training.
  • Support development and grooming of supervisors and junior managers.
  • Employee Engagement & Culture
  • Help establish a disciplined, positive, and performance-oriented work culture.
  • Conduct employee engagement and communication activities at the plant.
  • Encourage better communication between management, employees, and workmen. · Support initiatives related to employee welfare and retention.
  • Reinforce company values, accountability, teamwork, and professional behaviour.
  • HR Systems & Documentation
  • Maintain accurate employee master data and personnel records.
  • Ensure employee files, appointment documents, qualifications, statutory records, and other HR documents are complete and updated.
  • Implement HRMS and other digital HR systems wherever applicable.
  • Reduce dependency on manual records and improve digitization of HR processes.
  • Prepare regular HR MIS for management.
  • HR MIS & Management Reporting
  • Prepare monthly HR reports covering manpower, vacancies, recruitment, attendance, absenteeism, overtime, attrition, training, and other key HR parameters.
  • Maintain department-wise manpower and vacancy trackers.
  • Highlight unusual manpower trends, high overtime, absenteeism, attrition, or disciplinary concerns.
  • Provide accurate HR information to Plant Management and Corporate HR within agreed timelines.
  • Shop-Floor Discipline & Productivity
  • Maintain regular presence on the shop floor and interact with supervisors, operators, technicians, and workmen.
  • Monitor attendance, manpower deployment, discipline, and employee concerns.
  • Work with Production and departmental heads to improve manpower utilization.
  • Identify excessive manpower, manpower shortages, or deployment issues and bring them to management’s attention.
  • Ensure HR supports plant productivity rather than functioning only as an administrative department.
  • Change Management & Integration
  • Support management in implementing new systems, policies, structures, and ways of working at the Gujarat unit.
  • Communicate changes clearly to employees and help ensure smooth implementation.
  • Work closely with employees of the acquired unit to integrate them into ARCL’s systems and culture.
  • Address resistance to change in a practical and mature manner.
  • Help establish greater accountability, discipline, and professional working practices across the plant.
