Job Description:

Position:        QC Chemist

Location:       Gandhinagar

Experience:    2 - 5 Years

Industries:     Chemical

Responsibilities:        

  • Raw Material Testing
  • Carry out testing of incoming raw materials as per approved specifications and test methods.
  • Ensure raw materials are accepted or rejected based on defined quality parameters.
  • Maintain proper records of all incoming material testing.
  • Immediately report any deviation in raw-material quality to the concerned department.
  • In-Process Quality Control
  • Carry out regular testing of in-process samples during manufacturing.
  • Ensure that process parameters and product quality remain within specified limits. · Provide timely test results to Production so that necessary process corrections can be made without delay.
  • Identify abnormalities or deviations during production and immediately communicate them to the concerned Production team.
  • Support Production in troubleshooting quality-related process issues.
  • Finished Product Testing & Release
  • Test finished products against approved specifications before release.
  • Ensure that no material is cleared for dispatch without completing the required quality checks.
  • Maintain batch-wise test results and quality records.
  • Coordinate with Production, Stores, and Dispatch for timely product clearance.
  • Ensure timely testing so that QC does not become a bottleneck for production or dispatch.
  • Laboratory Testing & Analysis
  • The candidate should have practical knowledge of chemical testing and laboratory
  • procedures relevant to process and chemical manufacturing.
  • Depending upon the product, testing may include parameters such as:
  • · pH
  • · Viscosity
  • · Specific Gravity / Density
  • · Solid Content
  • · Moisture
  • · Gel Time
  • · Free Formaldehyde
  • · Reactivity
  • · Appearance and other product-specific quality parameters
  • The candidate should be comfortable handling standard laboratory instruments and analytical equipment used for routine QC testing.
  • Quality Documentation
  • Maintain proper records of raw material, in-process, and finished-product testing.
  • Prepare and maintain Certificates of Analysis (COA) wherever required.
  • Ensure traceability of test results and samples.
  • Maintain laboratory registers, reports, specifications, and test records in an organized manner.
  • Follow approved SOPs and quality procedures without deviation.
  • Laboratory Equipment & Calibration
  • Ensure proper operation and upkeep of laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Carry out or coordinate calibration of laboratory instruments as per schedule.
  • Maintain calibration records and ensure instruments are not used beyond their
  • Report malfunctioning equipment and arrange for timely corrective action.
  • Handling Quality Deviations
  • Immediately report out-of-specification results and quality deviations.
  • Assist in investigation of quality failures and identification of root causes.
  • Participate in corrective and preventive action wherever required.
  • Support investigation of customer complaints by providing relevant QC data and testing.
  • Coordination with Production
  • Maintain close coordination with Production teams across shifts.
  • Provide timely and accurate quality feedback to manufacturing personnel.
  • Support process corrections and troubleshooting without compromising approved quality standards.
  • Ensure that quality requirements are understood and followed at the shop-floor level.
  • Quality Systems & Compliance
  • Follow established QC procedures, SOPs, and ISO systems.
  • Maintain laboratory practices in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits whenever required.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and discipline within the laboratory.
  • Follow all applicable safety procedures while handling chemicals and laboratory equipment.
  • Sample Management
  • Ensure proper collection, identification, storage, and disposal of samples.
  • Maintain retention samples of finished products wherever required.
  • Ensure samples are properly labelled and traceable to the relevant production batch. calibration validity.

  • Good understanding of chemical laboratory practices.
  • Ability to identify and report quality deviations.
  • Basic troubleshooting and root-cause analysis capability.
  • Good documentation and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to work under production timelines without compromising quality.
  • Good communication and coordination with Production and other departments.
  • Working knowledge of Excel and basic computer systems.

Required Qualification: - B.Sc/M.Sc - Chemistry
