Job Description:

Position:       Maintenance Technician

Location:       Gandhinagar

Experience:    3 - 5 Years

Industries:     Chemical

Responsibilities:        

  • Mechanical Maintenance
  • Carry out routine mechanical maintenance of plant machinery and equipment.
  • Attend mechanical breakdowns and restore equipment in the shortest possible time.
  • Carry out preventive and predictive maintenance as per schedule.
  • Regularly inspect equipment and identify potential mechanical problems before breakdown occurs.
  • Ensure proper upkeep of all mechanical equipment in the plant.
  • Equipment Maintenance
  • The candidate should have practical exposure to maintenance of equipment such as:
  • Pumps
  • Agitators
  • Reactors
  • Gearboxes
  • Compressors
  • Blowers
  • Valves
  • Mechanical seals
  • Bearings
  • Couplings
  • Piping systems
  • Utility equipment
  • Rotating and stationary equipment
  • Breakdown & Troubleshooting
  • Identify the root cause of mechanical failures and take corrective action.
  • Attend equipment breakdowns promptly to minimize production loss.
  • Carry out replacement of bearings, seals, couplings, mechanical components, and other worn-out parts.
  • Identify recurring problems and bring them to the notice of the Mechanical Manager.
  • Support permanent corrective action instead of repeatedly attending the same breakdown.
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Follow preventive maintenance schedules for all assigned equipment.
  • Carry out lubrication, alignment, tightening, inspection, and replacement activities as required.
  • Maintain proper preventive maintenance and breakdown records.
  • Inform the concerned manager in advance about equipment requiring major repair or replacement.
  • Piping, Fabrication & Fitting Work
  • Carry out basic pipe fitting and mechanical fitting work.
  • Support fabrication, installation, and modification activities as required.
  • Assist in replacement and maintenance of pipelines, valves, flanges, and fittings.
  • Coordinate with welders, fabricators, and contractors for mechanical jobs.
  • Check leakages and ensure timely rectification.
  • Shutdown & Plant Maintenance
  • Participate actively in planned plant shutdowns.
  • Complete assigned maintenance jobs within shutdown timelines.
  • Support overhauling and inspection of critical equipment.
  • Ensure proper checking of equipment before restart of the plant.
  • Production Support
  • Work closely with Production teams to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
  • Respond quickly to mechanical problems affecting production.
  • Help minimize plant downtime arising from mechanical failures.
  • Ensure equipment is handed back to Production in safe operating condition after maintenance.
  • Mechanical Safety
  • Strictly follow plant safety procedures while carrying out maintenance work.
  • Follow Lockout/Tagout procedures before working on equipment.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE.
  • Follow safe practices while working at height, in confined spaces, or during hot work.
  • Immediately report unsafe mechanical conditions or equipment.
  • Spare Parts & Tools
  • Maintain proper condition of mechanical tools and maintenance equipment.
  • Monitor availability of frequently required mechanical spares.
  • Inform the Mechanical Manager regarding critical spare requirements.
  • Avoid unnecessary wastage or misuse of spare parts and consumables.
  • Documentation & Housekeeping
  • Maintain basic records of breakdowns, repairs, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping in maintenance areas and around equipment after completion of work.
  • Maintain tools, work areas, and spare storage in an organized manner.
