Job Title: Planning Engineer | Department: Engineering/ Technical
Reporting To: Technical Director | Location: Kinshasa, DRC | Type: Full-Time
Job Summary:
The Planning Engineer will play a pivotal role in supporting the execution team of project managers by ensuring effective planning, scheduling, and coordination of projects. The role involves working closely with the Technical Director and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including resource allocation and critical path analysis.
- Coordinate with project managers to integrate project schedules and ensure alignment with overall project timelines.
- Monitor project progress and update schedules as necessary to reflect changes and delays.
- Resource Management:
- Identify and allocate resources required for project execution, including manpower, materials, and equipment.
- Collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of resources.
- Optimize resource utilization to enhance project efficiency and reduce costs.
- Risk Management:
- Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Conduct regular risk assessments and update risk management plans accordingly.
- Communicate risks and mitigation plans to project stakeholders.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present regular project status reports to the Technical Director and other stakeholders.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including schedules, progress reports, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and accessible to relevant parties.
- Coordination and Communication:
- Facilitate effective communication between project teams, stakeholders, and external partners.
- Organize and lead project meetings to discuss progress, issues, and solutions.
- Act as a liaison between the execution team and the Technical Director to ensure alignment on project goals and objectives.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project planning and scheduling within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in project management software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, methodologies, and best practices.
Skills and Attributes:

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Hindi and English, both written and spoken.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
Preferred:
- Experience working with large general contractors in India.
- Knowledge of local construction regulations and standards.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is a plus.
