Job Description:

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented VMC Operator to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Vertical Machining Centers (VMC) to produce high-precision parts. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of CNC/VMC machinery, the ability to accurately interpret engineering blueprints, and a strict commitment to quality control and workplace safety. ______________ Key Responsibilities •    Machine Setup & Operation: Prepare, calibrate, and operate VMC machines (e.g., Fanuc, Siemens, Haas controllers) based on production requirements. Load raw materials, workpieces, and secure fixtures safely. •    Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret 2D/3D engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical schematics to determine exact machining dimensions and tolerances. •    Programming & Code Manipulation: Understand, load, and make minor edits to CNC programs using G-code and M-code. Adjust tool wear offsets, work coordinates, and machine settings as required. •    Tooling Management: Select, install, and adjust the appropriate cutting tools (end mills, drills, taps) based on material hardness, ductility, and job specifications. •    Feed & Speed Adjustments: Optimize machine feed rates and spindle speeds during operation to ensure high-quality surface finishes and prolong tool life. •    Quality Inspection: Conduct in-process and post-machining quality checks using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, height gauges, and bore gauges to ensure conformance to technical specs. •    Troubleshooting & Maintenance: Identify and resolve machining errors, structural flaws, or tool wear issues during execution. Perform daily routine maintenance tasks (cleaning, lubrication, fluid top-offs). •    Documentation: Maintain accurate daily logs of approved units, cycle times, tool wear data, and any machine downtime or discrepancies. ______________ Required Skills & Qualifications •    Education: High school diploma, ITI Certification, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering / Machinist trade. •    Experience: [X] years of proven experience operating and setting Vertical Machining Centers (VMCs) in a manufacturing environment. •    Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of G-code/M-code and hands-on experience with control systems (e.g., Fanuc, Mitsubishi, Haas). •    Tool Handling: Proficiency with standard machine shop measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, dial indicators). •    Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, and work comfortably in a fast-paced industrial environment. •    Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving aptitude, sharp attention to detail, and a collaborative team-player mindset. ______________ Preferred Qualifications (Bonus) •    Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks) to write basic 2D programs. •    Prior experience operating Horizontal Machining Centers (HMC) or traditional CNC milling machines.
