Sr. GIS Engineer- FSD Delhi NCR (Third party payroll)
Job Description:
Role Purpose
The Sr. GIS Engineer will be responsible for managing, maintaining, analyzing, and optimizing GIS-based telecom network and asset data to support FTTH planning, installation feasibility, network operations, field service delivery, asset inventory, and business transformation initiatives.
The role requires strong expertise in GIS, spatial data management, telecom network data, data quality, GIS analysis, and process automation, with the ability to work closely with Network Planning, FSD, O&M, Product, IT, and Business teams.
Key Responsibilities
- GIS & Telecom Network Data Management
- Manage and maintain GIS databases for FTTH/telecom network assets including POP, OLT, FDT, splitter, cable, fiber, pole, chamber, building and customer locations.
- Ensure accurate representation of network topology and connectivity in GIS.
- Manage RFS/NRFS, Home Pass, coverage and network inventory data.
- Perform regular GIS data updates based on network rollout, augmentation, installation and O&M activities.
- Maintain spatial and attribute data integrity across GIS systems.
- GIS Data Quality & Reconciliation
- Identify and resolve GIS data discrepancies between GIS, CRM, NMS, inventory and field systems.
- Conduct reconciliation of landbase, building, locality, PIN code, address and network asset data.
- Establish data-quality checks and validation rules.
- Identify duplicate, missing, incorrect or obsolete GIS records.
- Develop dashboards/reports for monitoring GIS data quality and completeness.
- FTTH Planning & Feasibility
- Support FTTH network planning using GIS-based spatial analysis.
- Perform customer feasibility analysis based on network availability, distance, capacity and connectivity.
- Support RFS/NRFS identification and Home Pass validation.
- Analyze network capacity and utilization to identify opportunities for augmentation and optimization.
- Support GIS-based planning for new rollout, relocation, splitter augmentation and network expansion.
- GIS Analysis & Spatial Intelligence
- Perform spatial analysis for network planning, coverage analysis and field operations.
- Create thematic maps, heat maps and network visualization.
- Perform proximity, buffer, overlay, routing and serviceability analysis.
- Support cluster-level analysis for customer demand, complaints, network performance and serviceability.
- Generate GIS insights to support business and operational decisions.
- GIS Application & Process Automation
- Work with GIS Product/IT teams to define requirements for GIS applications and enhancements.
- Identify opportunities to automate repetitive GIS processes.
- Support development of rule-based GIS feasibility and validation engines.
- Integrate GIS with CRM, FRT, NMS, inventory and other enterprise applications.
- Support API/data integration requirements between GIS and other platforms.
- Participate in UAT, defect analysis and production implementation.
- Field Service & Operational Support
- Provide GIS support for installation, relocation, complaint resolution and field-service processes.
- Support field teams with accurate network and customer location information.
- Analyze field-service data to identify recurring geographical/network issues.
- Support initiatives such as Zero-Touch Installation, Digital Field Service, Smart Inventory and proactive service management.
- Develop GIS-based solutions to improve field productivity and reduce repeat visits.
- GIS Reporting & MIS
- Develop and maintain GIS-based operational reports and dashboards.
- Provide insights on:

- Present GIS insights to business and technology stakeholders.
- Project & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with Network Planning, FSD, O&M, IT, Product, Business Transformation and other stakeholders.
- Translate business requirements into GIS requirements and functional specifications.
- Participate in project planning, solution design, UAT and deployment.
- Coordinate with vendors and GIS technology partners where required.
- Prepare technical documentation, SOPs and process documents.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of GIS concepts and spatial data management.
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS / ArcGIS Pro / QGIS or equivalent GIS platforms.
- Experience with spatial databases such as PostgreSQL/PostGIS, Oracle Spatial or SQL Server.
- Good understanding of telecom/FTTH network architecture and GIS-based network inventory.
- Knowledge of spatial analysis, geoprocessing and network analysis.
- Working knowledge of SQL and GIS data queries.
- Understanding of GIS APIs, web GIS and system integration is preferred.
- Experience with GIS dashboards and visualization tools.
- Knowledge of data validation, reconciliation and data-quality frameworks.
- Exposure to automation using Python, FME, ModelBuilder or similar tools is an advantage.
Telecom Domain Knowledge
The candidate should preferably understand:
- FTTH architecture
