Job Description:
A dispatch manager oversees daily transportation, shipping schedules, and delivery logistics to ensure goods move safely, efficiently, and on time from warehouses to customers.
Core Responsibilities
- Schedule Planning: Coordinate daily dispatch schedules, assign routes, and monitor shipments in real time.
- Team Supervision: Lead dispatchers, warehouse staff, and delivery drivers, handle work rotas, and manage performance.
- Route Optimization: Use GPS tracking and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) to cut fuel costs and delivery times.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all drivers and vehicles follow safety standards and transport laws.
- Issue Resolution: Handle delivery delays, damaged goods, or emergency route changes quickly.
Key Qualifications & Skills
- Education: A high school diploma, or a bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, or business.
- Experience: Proven supervisory background in transportation or logistics.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with GPS, routing software, and inventory control systems.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership, clear communication, and fast problem-solving under pressure.
