Job Summary

Orbit Global is hiring an experienced Site In-Charge – Maintenance & Customer Support to lead day-to-day maintenance operations and ensure the reliable performance and maximum uptime of automation equipment at customer sites.

The Site In-Charge will manage a team of mechanical and electrical maintenance technicians and engineers, coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance, manage customer communication, allocate manpower and resources, monitor equipment performance and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on and supervisory experience in electro-mechanical maintenance, warehouse automation, industrial automation, conveyor systems, sorters, material handling equipment, robotic systems, AGVs and automated warehouse systems.

This is a critical site leadership role for professionals who can combine technical troubleshooting, maintenance management, team leadership and customer relationship management.

Key Responsibilities

1. Site Maintenance Management

• Lead and supervise maintenance operations at the assigned customer automation site.
• Manage a team of mechanical and electrical maintenance technicians and engineers.
• Ensure smooth operation and availability of warehouse automation equipment.
• Plan and execute preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities.
• Establish and follow maintenance schedules, checklists and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure timely completion of planned maintenance activities.
• Monitor machine health, equipment performance and maintenance effectiveness.
• Take ownership of equipment uptime and maintenance performance at the site.

2. Preventive Maintenance

• Develop and implement mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance schedules.
• Coordinate scheduled inspections and servicing of automation equipment.
• Ensure maintenance activities are performed according to OEM guidelines and company procedures.
• Monitor critical equipment and identify potential failures before they result in major breakdowns.
• Ensure proper lubrication, inspection, adjustment, alignment and replacement of critical components.
• Review maintenance history and identify recurring failure patterns.
• Improve equipment reliability through structured preventive maintenance practices.

3. Breakdown Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Lead the team during critical automation equipment breakdowns.
• Ensure rapid response to electrical, mechanical and electromechanical failures.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate corrective actions.
• Identify root causes of recurring equipment failures.
• Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective/preventive action initiatives.
• Minimize machine downtime and restore equipment operation within defined service levels.
• Coordinate with OEMs and technical experts for complex equipment issues.
• Ensure all breakdowns are properly documented and closed.

4. Warehouse Automation Equipment

Manage maintenance activities for a range of warehouse and industrial automation equipment, including:

• Conveyor Systems
• Sortation Systems
• Automated Material Handling Systems

• Robotic Arms
• Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
• Palletizers
• Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS)

Candidates with hands-on experience in warehouse automation maintenance and material handling systems will be strongly preferred.

5. Team Leadership & Manpower Management

• Lead, supervise and motivate the site maintenance team.
• Allocate manpower according to maintenance priorities and operational requirements.
• Assign daily work activities to mechanical and electrical maintenance teams.
• Monitor team productivity, attendance and maintenance performance.
• Provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to technicians and engineers.
• Develop the technical capabilities of maintenance personnel.
• Ensure adequate manpower coverage for critical operations and shifts.
• Promote a culture of ownership, safety, discipline and continuous improvement.

6. Customer Relationship Management

• Act as the primary point of contact for the customer regarding site maintenance activities.
• Build and maintain strong professional relationships with customer stakeholders.
• Conduct regular customer meetings to review:

  • Pending technical issues
  • Spare requirements

7. Maintenance Planning & Resource Management

• Plan maintenance activities based on equipment criticality and operational requirements.
• Allocate manpower, tools, equipment and spare parts effectively.
• Ensure availability of critical maintenance tools and components.
• Coordinate planned shutdowns, maintenance projects and equipment upgrades.
• Work closely with customers and internal teams to schedule maintenance activities without disrupting warehouse operations.
• Ensure timely availability and indenting of required spare parts.

8. Spare Parts Management

• Monitor consumption and availability of mechanical and electrical spare parts.
• Maintain appropriate site-level spare inventory.
• Identify critical spare requirements.
• Coordinate with internal procurement and technical teams for spare availability.
• Ensure proper storage and handling of maintenance spares.
• Maintain accurate records of spare consumption and replacement.
• Reduce downtime caused by non-availability of critical spare parts.

9. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with company safety standards and customer-site safety procedures.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and maintenance audits.
• Ensure technicians use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Follow safe maintenance procedures while working on electrical and mechanical equipment.
• Ensure compliance with applicable Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Conduct risk assessments for maintenance activities.
• Identify unsafe conditions and implement corrective actions.
• Promote a strong safety culture across the maintenance team.

10. Quality & Continuous Improvement

• Conduct maintenance quality audits and equipment inspections.
• Monitor maintenance effectiveness and equipment reliability.
• Identify recurring breakdowns and develop corrective action plans.
• Analyze downtime and equipment performance data.
• Recommend modifications and process improvements to increase equipment uptime.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support implementation of best practices in warehouse automation maintenance.

Maintain accurate and timely records of:
