Job Description:

Senior Accountant 2 perform most work assigned with a minimum of assistance. They often supervise one or more staff accountants, instruct them in work to be performed, review the work done, and direct necessary revisions. Seniors are required to identify and make decisions on most tax and accounting matters.

Reports to: Supervisor/Manager/Principal/Partner

Specific Responsibilities:

• Prepares complex business and individual tax returns, as well as tax planning as needed.
• May be given the responsibility of planning and scheduling engagements.
• Interface directly with clients/clients’ management.
• Demonstrates competency in technical skills, work quality, and application of professional and firm standards.
• Directs and instructs staff accountants, where applicable, in work to be performed and workpaper review.
• Reviews tax and financial statement workpapers to ensure accuracy and completeness with firm standards
• Performs the broadest range of accounting tasks so that direct participation of managers or partners is kept to a minimum.
• Manages most technical aspects of a client’s engagement
Working Conditions • Occasional same day travel for work at client's offices, meetings, and seminars using a personal vehicle.
• Overtime work required from January to April 15, in excess of 55 hours per week. Occasional overtime work required throughout the remainder of the year.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

• Degree in Accounting from an accredited university. Master’s degree in taxation preferred.
• Minimum of 2+ years’ experience in public accounting, demonstrate a proven progression in tax return complexity
• Minimum of forty hours of continuing education is required each year to maintain and develop technical and business skills, as well as to maintain license requirements.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and personal and business income taxes.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
• Hold a current and valid CPA or EA license or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam.
• Must be a member in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs.
