AGM / DGM – Injection Moulding Production

Job Purpose

The AGM/DGM of Injection Moulding Production will lead plant operations, optimize cycle times, and manage plastic injection moulding shop floors to achieve production targets. This role focuses on maintaining stringent automotive quality standards (IATF 16949), minimizing scrap, implementing Lean/Kaizen frameworks, and leading a large team of engineers and operators.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations Management

  • Target Achievement: Daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules must meet OEM delivery timelines.
  • Shop Floor Oversight: Manage high-tonnage plastic injection moulding machines (e.g., Engel, Milacron, Toshiba, Haitian).
  • Efficiency Optimization: Improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and reduce cycle times while keeping machine downtime to a minimum.

Quality & Process Control

  • Defect Reduction: Troubleshoot moulding defects like silver streaks, flash, sink marks, and short shots.
  • Standard Compliance: Maintain 100% compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS standards.
  • Audits: Represent the production department during customer audits (Maruti Suzuki, TATA Motors, Mahindra, etc.).

Cost Control & Continuous Improvement

  • Scrap Reduction: Track and minimize raw material wastage and rejection rates.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Drive 5S, Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, SMED (Single-Minute Exchange of Die), and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Budget Management: Control shop floor operational expenses (OPEX) and labor costs.

Maintenance & Tooling Coordination

  • Tooling Alignment: Partner with the Tool Room team to manage mold maintenance, trials, and new product development (NPD).
  • Preventive Maintenance: Coordinate planned machine maintenance schedules to avoid unexpected production stops.

Team Leadership & Safety

  • Workforce Management: Supervise, mentor, and upskill a team of production managers, engineers, and operators.
  • Safety Protocol: Enforce a zero-accident culture by ensuring total adherence to plant safety guidelines.

Required Candidate Profile

Technical Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, or Plastics Engineering (CIPET qualification is a major advantage).
  • Moulding Expertise: Deep technical knowledge of injection moulding processes, robotic automation, and sequential valve gating.
  • Material Knowledge: Hands-on experience working with automotive plastics (PP, ABS, PC, Nylon, PMMA).
  • OEM Standards: Firm understanding of customer-specific requirements for major automotive OEMs.
