Job Title: Assistant Manager – Instrumentation
Department: Instrumentation / Automation
Position Level: Assistant Manager (Permanent / Full-Time)
Location: Nandasan, Mehsana, Gujarat
Qualification: B.E. / B.Tech or Diploma in Instrumentation & Control / Electronics Engineering
Experience: 6 to 8 Years
POSITION PURPOSE
The Assistant Manager – Instrumentation is responsible for leading the plant's entire automation, control systems, and
instrumentation functions. The primary objective is to oversee the design, programming, troubleshooting, calibration,
maintenance, and compliance of PLC/SCADA/DCS systems to ensure continuous, safe, and efficient manufacturing
operations in full alignment with quality, GMP, and audit standards.
DETAILED KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Automation & Control Systems
Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC systems (Allen Bradley) using FBD and Ladder logic.
Design and develop SCADA/HMI applications using FactoryTalk View software.
Manage PLC hardware, I/O systems, communication networks, and industrial switches.
Handle PLC, SCADA, HMI, DCS, historian, and industrial communication systems.
Troubleshoot control loops, interlocks, sequences, alarms, and automation-related breakdowns.
2. Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance
Manage day-to-day instrumentation maintenance and operations of the manufacturing plant.
Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis of instrumentation and automation-related issues to minimize
downtime.
Maintain critical spare inventory for instrumentation and automation systems.
3. Calibration & Compliance
Ensure calibration of critical instruments as per schedules and procedures.
Maintain calibration records, certificates, and instrument history cards.
Ensure compliance with GMP, cGMP, and ISO applicable regulatory requirements.
Support internal and external audits related to instrumentation and automation.
Ensure proper documentation of maintenance, calibration, modification, and qualification activities.
4. Validation & Documentation
Review P&IDs, instrument datasheets, control philosophies, I/O lists, cause & effect diagrams, and functional
specifications.
Support equipment and system qualification activities such as IQ/OQ/PQ wherever applicable.

Prepare and review SOPs, preventive maintenance procedures, calibration procedures, and technical documents.
Maintain automation-related documentation and ensure change-control compliance.
Participate in deviation, CAPA, change control, and investigation activities.
5. Team Management
Lead and guide instrumentation technicians and engineers.
Allocate daily maintenance activities and monitor work completion.
Develop team competency through training and knowledge sharing.
6. Continuous Improvement
Implement improvement projects to reduce breakdowns and maintenance costs.
REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS
Strong knowledge of industrial instrumentation and control systems.
Good experience in PLC, SCADA/HMI, and DCS (Allen-Bradley) systems.
Knowledge of Allen-Bradley/Rockwell PLC systems is preferred.
Knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus, etc.
Good knowledge of P&IDs, instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, and control philosophies.
Understanding of control valves, actuators, positioners, and control loops.
Good leadership, communication, and team-management skills.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
