Transformer Capacity Range Up to 20 MVA (Power & Distribution Transformers)
   
Qualification B.Tech (Any Discipline; Electrical/Mechanical preferred)
Experience 15 Years (Transformer / Heavy Electrical Equipment Manufacturing)
   
JOB PURPOSE
Manage end-to-end sourcing and supply chain for CRGO steel, copper/aluminium conductors, insulation materials, transformer oil, and bought-out accessories, ensuring uninterrupted material availability for production while optimizing cost, quality, and inventory.
   
PROJECT PHASE RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Develop and qualify new vendors for CRGO steel, conductors, insulation materials, and critical accessories for new projects.
•  Negotiate long-term contracts/rate agreements for key commodities (CRGO, copper) to secure supply and pricing stability.
•  Plan import logistics and customs documentation for imported CRGO steel and other materials.
•  Coordinate with Design/Engineering on new material specifications and alternate sourcing options for new transformer designs.
   
PRODUCTION PHASE RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Manage production-linked material requirement planning (MRP) in coordination with Manufacturing and Quality teams.
•  Oversee inventory management (raw materials, WIP, bought-outs) to balance stock availability against working-capital targets.
•  Monitor vendor delivery schedules and proactively resolve supply risks to avoid production disruption.
•  Lead cost-negotiation and value-engineering initiatives on key raw materials and bought-out components.
•  Manage import/export documentation, customs clearance, and logistics for international shipments.
•  Coordinate vendor quality issues with the Quality Department and drive supplier corrective actions.
   
TECHNICAL SKILLS
•  Strong understanding of strategic sourcing, category management, and commodity markets (steel, copper).
•  Proficiency in ERP/SAP (MM module) for procurement, inventory, and vendor management.
•  Knowledge of import-export regulations, customs procedures, and international logistics/incoterms.
•  Familiarity with vendor quality management and supplier development processes.
   
LEADERSHIP REQUIREMENTS
•  Lead a team of buyers, planners, and logistics coordinators.
•  Coordinate cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Design teams.
•  Manage strategic vendor relationships and periodic vendor performance reviews.
•  Drive cost-savings and process-improvement initiatives across the procurement function.
   
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
•  On-time delivery from vendors (%).
•  Inventory turnover ratio and working-capital efficiency.
•  Cost savings / value-engineering achieved (%) against budget.
•  Stockout incidents affecting production (count/frequency).
•  Vendor quality rejection rate (%).
•  Import lead-time adherence and customs compliance.
   
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
•  Ensure safe storage and handling practices for hazardous materials (transformer oil, chemicals) in warehouses.
•  Ensure vendor compliance with safety and environmental regulations for material supply and transport.
•  Maintain warehouse safety standards, including material stacking, fire safety, and MSDS documentation.
•  Ensure compliance with import/export and customs regulations to avoid legal/statutory risk.
•  Support ISO 14001 (environmental) compliance in procurement decisions (e.g., approved/compliant materials).
•  Coordinate with EHS teams on safety data sheets and handling protocols for new incoming materials.
