Product Delivery & Quality Manager
Job Description:
The Role
The Product Delivery & Quality Manager will act as the principal point of coordination between Nisyst's UK senior development team and the development team in India.
This is an important, hands-on role designed to improve communication, development quality, prioritisation and accountability across the two teams. Rather than multiple developers communicating independently with senior UK developers, the role will provide a clear and structured interface between the teams.
The successful candidate will understand requirements and priorities from the UK team, ensure these are clearly communicated and understood in India, coordinate development activity, monitor progress, and ensure work has been appropriately reviewed and tested before it is presented back to the UK team.
This is more than a project administration role. We are looking for someone with sufficient technical understanding to challenge developers constructively, identify quality issues, understand dependencies and ensure that completed work genuinely meets the agreed requirement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and line-manage the whole Surat and UK IT team, including developers, team leads, and QA, and make sure the department runs efficiently.
- Own delivery across the teams: plan workloads, set clear priorities, track progress, and clear blockers so work ships on time and to a high standard.
- Put good ways of working in place and keep improving them, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, code reviews, and release processes.
- Work closely with UK leadership and clients to turn requirements into clear plans, and keep them updated on progress, timelines, and risks.
- Keep quality high by making sure testing and QA are built into every stage, from planning through to release sign-off.
- Watch the numbers that matter, such as delivery timelines, team velocity, defect rates, and system uptime, and use them to keep improving.
- Plan capacity and resourcing, spot skill gaps early, and work with HR on hiring and onboarding.
- Coach and develop your team leads and engineers through regular one-to-ones, clear goals, and honest performance reviews.
- Guide technical decisions alongside the team leads, keeping an eye on code quality, architecture, security, and long-term maintainability.
- Handle day-to-day team matters like leave, shift cover, and keeping people motivated and engaged.
- Report to senior management on how the department is performing, along with any risks and what you are doing about them.
Development Team Coordination
- Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact between the UK senior development team and the India development team.
- Coordinate development activities, priorities and workloads across the India team.
- Translate agreed requirements and priorities into clear, actionable development tasks.
- Ensure developers understand both what is required and why it is required.
- Monitor progress against agreed priorities, milestones and delivery dates.
- Identify delays, blockers, dependencies and resource issues early and escalate where appropriate.
- Reduce unnecessary individual communication and interruptions to UK senior developers by consolidating questions and issues.
Product & Requirement Management
- Develop a strong working understanding of ChariotWeb and the wider Nisyst product ecosystem.
- Ensure development requirements are sufficiently understood before work begins.
- Identify ambiguity or missing information and obtain clarification from the appropriate UK resource.
- Maintain visibility of development priorities, outstanding work and upcoming requirements.
- Help ensure development effort remains aligned with agreed product and business priorities.
- Provide structured feedback to UK senior developers on progress, issues and decisions required.
Quality Control
- Review completed work against the original requirement and agreed acceptance criteria.
- Coordinate appropriate developer testing and internal quality checks.
- Ensure obvious defects, incomplete functionality and usability issues are identified before submission to the UK team.
- Challenge development work where requirements have not been fully met.
- Encourage consistent development, documentation and testing standards.
- Ensure defects identified during review are properly understood, allocated and resolved.
- Work with developers to identify recurring quality issues and improve development practices.
- Help establish a culture where quality is owned by the development team rather than relying on the UK team to find problems.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide concise, structured updates to UK senior developers and management.
- Consolidate questions from the India team rather than allowing multiple unnecessary interruptions.
- Run regular development-team progress meetings.
- Maintain clear records of actions, responsibilities, blockers and decisions.
- Escalate issues early where they may affect delivery, quality or customer commitments.
- Ensure important decisions and technical guidance from the UK team are communicated consistently across the India team.
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- 8 to 12 years in software development or IT, including at least 3 to 4 years leading and line-managing teams.
- A track record of running delivery across more than one team, covering developers, team leads, and QA.
- Strong people leadership skills, with real experience growing a team and getting the best out of people.
- A solid technical background: you understand the full software development lifecycle, testing, CI/CD, and cloud, even if you are not coding day to day.
- Comfortable running Agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban) and using tools like Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Excellent written and spoken English is a must, as you will work with the UK team and clients every day.
- A good grasp of security best practices, which matters in a cyber security business.
- A degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related subject, or equivalent hands-on experience.
