Job Description:

Job Purpose

To support the Design and New Product Development team in developing and modifying engineering designs, preparing technical drawings and documentation, assisting in reverse engineering and mould development, and ensuring designs meet product, quality and manufacturing requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support the preparation and modification of 3D CAD models and 2D engineering drawings.
  2. Assist in reverse engineering of customer samples, existing products and components.
  3. Prepare product drawings with appropriate dimensions, tolerances, GD&T, material and surface-finish requirements.
  4. Support mould design and mould development activities for rubber, silicone, LSR and plastic components.
  5. Identify basic design and manufacturing issues and support the team in implementing design improvements.
  6. Prepare and maintain NPD documentation, drawings, BOMs, specifications and revision records.
  7. Assist in preparation of DFMEA, design review documents, validation documents and technical reports.
  8. Support material selection and technical evaluation based on product requirements.
  9. Coordinate with Production, Quality, Tool Room, R&D and other cross-functional teams during product development.
  10. Support prototype development, trials, inspection and design validation activities.
  11. Incorporate engineering changes based on customer requirements, trial observations and manufacturing feedback.
  12. Ensure drawings and technical documents are maintained as per document control and revision requirements.

Required Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD / Solid Edge / SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software.
  • Basic knowledge of 3D modelling and 2D drafting.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T, engineering tolerances and drawing standards.
  • Understanding of rubber, silicone, LSR and plastic components.
  • Basic knowledge of moulding and manufacturing processes.
  • Basic understanding of reverse engineering / 3D scanning.
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and their applications.
  • Basic MS Excel, Word and technical documentation skills.
