Deputy Manager- Shift- Incharge - Production (Manesar)

Responsibilities

Detailed Responsibilities in his shift.

• Lead and supervise all production activities during the assigned shift for Machining and Assembly operations.
• Ensure achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly production targets as per production plan.
• Monitor Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), productivity, downtime, and cycle time performance.
• Drive adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality requirements.
• Manage manpower deployment, shift scheduling, and workforce utilization to maximize productivity.
• Coordinate with Maintenance, Quality, Stores, Planning, and Engineering teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
• Ensure implementation and compliance with 5S, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, and TPM initiatives.
• Monitor machine utilization and identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reduction.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for production, process, and quality issues.
• Ensure adherence to Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) guidelines and company policies.
• Train and develop operators, technicians, and team leaders to enhance skill levels and operational excellence.
• Monitor rejection, rework, and scrap levels and implement actions to achieve quality targets.
• Drive continuous improvement projects focused on productivity, quality, and cost optimization.
• Review production reports, shift performance reports, and MIS data for management review.
• Support new product development, process validation, trial runs, and customer requirements.
• Ensure compliance with IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and customer-specific requirements.
• Handle shift-related escalations and ensure smooth communication during shift handovers.

Profile Requirements

Personal Background: -

·       B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.

·       Total experience of 12-14 years in Automotive / Auto Components / Manufacturing Industry.

·       Minimum 4-6 years of experience in independently handling production shifts.

·       Automobile / Auto Components / Manufacturing/ Industrial Equipment / Heavy Engineering

·       Experience in Assembly, Machining, Production Planning, Lean Manufacturing.

·       Strong leadership experience in managing shop-floor manpower and manufacturing processes.

·       Excellent coordination skills.

Skills & Abilities: -

Technical Skills

·       Strong knowledge of Machining Operations including CNC Turning, VMC, HMC, Broaching, Grinding, and Manufacturing processes.

·       Strong understanding of Assembly Processes, Torque Management, Poka-Yoke Systems, and Error Proofing Techniques.

·       Knowledge of Production Planning, Line Balancing, Capacity Utilization, and Bottleneck Management.

·       Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, and Continuous Improvement methodologies.

·       Ability to read engineering drawings, GD&T, process sheets, and control plans.

·       Knowledge of SPC, MSA, PFMEA, Control Plan, APQP, and PPAP requirements.

·       Understanding of Quality Management Systems including IATF 16949.

·       Experience in productivity improvement, cost reduction, and process optimization projects.

·       Hands-on experience with ERP/SAP systems and production reporting tools.

·       Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills using 8D, Why-Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagram, etc.

Authorities

• Authorize manpower deployment and shift assignments.
• Stop production in case of safety, quality, or equipment-related risks.
• Approve machine setting changes within defined operational limits.
• Escalate and initiate corrective actions for deviations affecting quality, cost, delivery, and safety.
• Recommend rewards, disciplinary actions, training, and performance improvement plans for production associates.
• Approve overtime requirements as per production needs and company policy.
• Lead shift review meetings and assign action items for operational improvements.
• Approve consumption of production resources within approved limits.
• Participate in supplier, customer, and internal audits related to production operations.
