Job Description:

SENIOR ACCOUNTANT

Department: Finance & Accounts
Reports To: Finance Manager / Head of Finance
Location: Kinshasa, Congo
Industry: FMCG Wholesale & Distribution
Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Purpose

Responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and effective management of sales, inventory, receivables, payables, and cash.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage sales, purchase, receivable, payable, and general ledger accounting.
  • Monitor customer balances, credit sales, collections, and overdue accounts.
  • Reconcile customer, supplier, bank, cash, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Monitor inventory, stock movements, COGS, damages, expiries, and stock variances.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, management accounts, and variance analysis.
  • Monitor sales, gross margins, expenses, and working capital.
  • Ensure accurate accounting for discounts, rebates, returns, and credit notes.
  • Support VAT, tax, statutory compliance, and external audits.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over sales, inventory, cash, and purchasing.
  • Supervise and review the work of junior accounting staff.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4–5 years of relevant experience, preferably in FMCG, wholesale, distribution, or trading.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting, reconciliations, inventory, and financial reporting.
  • Good knowledge of ERP/accounting systems and Microsoft Excel.
