Job Overview
A leading Japanese MNC is looking for an experienced Assistant Technical Sales Manager – Test & Measurement Instruments for its Gurgaon operation.
The position is suitable for a technically oriented sales professional with 5–7 years of experience in selling Tensile Testers and related Test & Measurement Instruments. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in technical sales, industrial customer handling, product demonstrations, installations, application discussions, dealer coordination, and business development.
Candidates who have worked with companies or products associated with Instron, Shimadzu, ZwickRoell, Mark-10, Mecmesin, or similar Test & Measurement Instrument manufacturers/distributors will be preferred.
The role involves working closely with industrial end users, dealers, customers, and the company's Japan technical team to understand applications, provide technical solutions, conduct demonstrations, support installations, and develop sales opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Business Development
- Independently plan and manage day-to-day sales and technical activities.
- Meet existing industrial customers to understand requirements and develop additional business opportunities.
- Identify and approach new industrial end users for business development.
- Generate leads and convert potential customers into business opportunities.
- Develop strong relationships with industrial customers and key accounts.
- Understand customer applications and recommend appropriate Test & Measurement solutions.
- Follow up on enquiries, quotations, demonstrations, trials, negotiations, and order closures.
- Achieve assigned sales and business development objectives.
2. Industrial Customer Management
- Regularly visit existing and prospective industrial end users.
- Understand customer testing, measurement, quality-control, R&D, production, and application requirements.
- Conduct detailed technical discussions regarding Tensile Testers and related products.
- Explain product specifications, features, applications, benefits, and technical advantages to customers.
- Maintain strong relationships with technical teams, purchase departments, quality teams, R&D teams, production teams, and decision-makers.
- Identify opportunities for repeat business, upgrades, replacements, and additional equipment.
3. Dealer & Channel Coordination
- Coordinate with existing dealers for new leads and sales opportunities.
- Follow up with dealers regarding customer enquiries, quotations, orders, and payments.
- Develop and maintain productive relationships with channel partners.
- Support dealers with product information, technical discussions, demonstrations, and customer requirements.
- Track dealer-generated leads and ensure timely follow-up.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure smooth execution of dealer orders.
4. Technical Sales & Application Support
- Understand customer applications and recommend suitable testing and measurement solutions.
- Participate in detailed technical discussions with customers and the Japan technical team.
- Translate customer requirements into appropriate product/application solutions.
- Coordinate with the Japan team for technical clarification and application-related queries.
- Explain testing procedures, equipment functionality, product specifications, and application suitability.
- Provide technical inputs during the pre-sales process.
- Support customers in selecting the appropriate Tensile Tester or related Test & Measurement equipment.
5. Product Demonstration & Installation
- Conduct product demonstrations at customer locations when required.
- Explain product operation and relevant applications to customers.
- Support installation and commissioning activities.
- Provide basic troubleshooting support to customers.
- Coordinate with technical/service teams for issues requiring advanced technical assistance.
- Ensure customers receive appropriate support during product installation and initial operation.
6. Sales Follow-Up & Order Management
- Follow up on enquiries and quotations on a regular basis.
- Maintain an updated pipeline of prospects and opportunities.
- Coordinate with customers, dealers, technical teams, and internal departments throughout the sales cycle.
- Follow up for purchase orders and order execution.
- Monitor payment status and coordinate with dealers/customers regarding outstanding payments.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, opportunities, and sales activities.
7. Market Development
- Identify potential industrial segments and customers requiring Test & Measurement solutions.
- Develop new business opportunities through customer visits, references, dealer networks, and market contacts.
- Monitor customer requirements and market developments.
- Gather information about competing products and market requirements.
- Provide feedback to management regarding customer expectations and market opportunities.
Required Technical Experience
Candidates should have 5–7 years of relevant sales experience in Test & Measurement Instruments, particularly products such as:
- Tensile Testers
- Universal Testing Machines
- Material Testing Instruments
- Force Measurement Instruments
- Test & Measurement Equipment
- Industrial Testing Equipment
- Quality Testing Instruments
- Related mechanical/material testing equipment
Preferred Product/Industry Exposure
Candidates with sales experience handling products from or similar to:
- Instron
- Shimadzu

- Mecmesin
- Other companies dealing in Tensile Testers and Test & Measurement Instruments
will be preferred.

- Strong industrial B2B sales exposure.
- Experience dealing directly with industrial end users.
