JOB TITLE: Floor Manager – Woodwork & Carpentry

LOCATION: Gurgaon, Haryana

JOB SUMMARY:

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Woodworking Expert / Wood Specialist with strong knowledge of different types of wood, wood processing, cutting techniques, joinery, furniture manufacturing, and commercial construction projects.

The ideal candidate should have experience handling woodwork for retail stores, commercial spaces, airports, metro stations, high-end furniture, luxury interiors, or similar large-scale projects. The candidate will be responsible for wood selection, material planning, cutting, processing, assembly, installation, quality control, and providing technical expertise for project execution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

WOOD SELECTION AND MATERIAL KNOWLEDGE:

- Select appropriate wood types based on project requirements, including hardwood, softwood, engineered wood, plywood, MDF, and veneers.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of wood properties such as grain, strength, flexibility, moisture content, durability, and finish compatibility.
- Recommend suitable wood materials based on structural, functional, aesthetic, and project requirements.
- Stay updated on new wood treatments, processing techniques, and sustainable/eco-friendly wood options.

WOOD CUTTING AND PROCESSING:

- Accurately measure and cut wood according to project specifications and required dimensions.
- Operate woodworking machinery including circular saws, band saws, table saws, routers, planers, drills, and related equipment.
- Plan cutting layouts to optimize material usage and minimize wastage.
- Ensure accuracy, precision, and quality during all cutting and processing activities.
- Follow safety procedures while operating woodworking tools and machinery.

WOOD JOINERY:

- Apply different wood joinery techniques such as dovetail joints, butt joints, finger joints, mortise and tenon joints, and other suitable methods.
- Ensure joints are structurally strong, durable, and aesthetically appropriate.
- Maintain high precision and quality standards in woodworking and furniture construction.

PROJECT-SPECIFIC EXPERTISE:

- Collaborate with architects, designers, project managers, and construction teams to understand project requirements.
- Provide technical advice on wood selection, construction methods, joinery, finishing, and installation.
- Support woodwork requirements for retail stores, commercial spaces, airports, metro stations, luxury interiors, and high-end furniture projects.
- Ensure wooden elements comply with applicable safety standards, construction requirements, and project specifications.

INSTALLATION AND ASSEMBLY:

- Oversee the assembly and installation of wooden structures, furniture, fixtures, and other wood elements.
- Supervise finishing activities including sanding, staining, polishing, varnishing, and other surface treatments.
- Ensure wooden structures and installations are properly secured, aligned, and safe for use.
- Coordinate with site teams to ensure timely and accurate installation.

MATERIAL MANAGEMENT:

- Estimate the quantity of wood and related materials required for projects.
- Assist in sourcing appropriate wood and other woodworking materials.
- Manage material quantities to minimize wastage and maintain cost efficiency.
- Ensure proper storage of wood and related materials to prevent damage and maintain quality.

QUALITY CONTROL AND MAINTENANCE:

- Inspect finished wood products and installations to ensure compliance with design specifications and quality standards.
- Identify defects, quality issues, or dimensional discrepancies and ensure corrective action.
- Maintain woodworking equipment and ensure machinery is functioning safely and efficiently.
- Follow workplace safety and quality procedures at all times.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION:

- Certification or qualification in Carpentry, Woodworking, Furniture Manufacturing, Construction, or a related field is preferred.
- Relevant practical experience in woodworking and furniture manufacturing will also be considered.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Minimum 4 years of experience in woodworking, wood cutting, furniture manufacturing, or construction projects.
- Experience in commercial projects, retail store fit-outs, airport projects, metro station projects, or large-scale interior projects is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in high-end or luxury furniture manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience in wood installation and site execution will be an added advantage.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

- Strong knowledge of different types of wood and their applications.
- Proficiency in woodworking tools and machinery.
- Knowledge of wood cutting, processing, joinery, assembly, and finishing.
- Ability to accurately measure and cut wood.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, design sketches, technical drawings, and project specifications.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is required.
- Knowledge of SolidWorks will be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of CNC machines and automated woodworking systems will be an advantage.
- Knowledge of modern wood finishes, treatments, and sustainable wood options.

- Experience in retail store fit-outs, airport interiors, metro projects, or commercial interior projects.
- Experience with high-end or luxury furniture projects.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor project environments.
- May involve lifting and handling heavy materials.
- Ability to stand and work for extended periods.
- Regular use of power tools and woodworking machinery.
- Occasional travel to project sites.
- May require extended working hours depending on project deadlines.
