Job Overview

Key Responsibilities

1. Autoclave Operation and Sterilization

• Operate autoclave equipment according to approved SOPs and established operating procedures.

• Perform sterilization activities for designated materials and equipment used in pharmaceutical production.

• Load and unload autoclaves according to approved loading patterns and procedures.

• Set appropriate cycle parameters as specified in approved procedures.

• Monitor sterilization cycles and observe operating conditions throughout the process.

• Verify and record cycle time, temperature, and other applicable process parameters.

• Ensure sterilization activities are performed according to approved instructions.

• Report incomplete cycles, equipment abnormalities, or deviations to the responsible supervisor.

• Follow established procedures for the safe handling of sterilized materials.

2. Equipment Washing and Cleaning Operations

• Operate equipment-washing machines and perform manual washing activities as required.

• Ensure proper cleaning and washing of glassware, containers, and designated production equipment.

• Follow approved cleaning procedures and use the prescribed detergents and cleaning methods.

• Ensure appropriate detergent concentration and cleaning practices according to established instructions.

• Inspect washed equipment and materials for visible cleanliness, where applicable.

• Maintain cleanliness and order in the designated washing and equipment-handling areas.

• Coordinate with production personnel to ensure cleaned equipment is available for scheduled activities.

3. Autoclave Loading and Unloading

• Load and unload materials into and from the autoclave according to approved loading patterns.

• Ensure materials are arranged according to the applicable sterilization procedure.

• Check that the loading arrangement follows established operating instructions.

• Handle materials carefully before and after sterilization.

• Allow safe handling of hot materials according to site procedures and safety requirements.

• Ensure sterilized materials are transferred or stored according to applicable company procedures.

• Report any loading issues or irregularities that may affect sterilization operations.

4. Sterilization Cycle Monitoring

• Set and monitor sterilization cycle parameters according to approved procedures.

• Monitor cycle duration and temperature records.

• Review available cycle records and report deviations or abnormal readings.

• Ensure that sterilization activities are completed and documented as required.

• Support the maintenance of sterilization records and cycle validation reports.

• Escalate incomplete cycles, process interruptions, or equipment-related issues to the appropriate supervisor.

• Follow the facility's established procedures for handling sterilization deviations.

5. Documentation and Record Maintenance

• Maintain equipment operating logs and washing records.

• Record sterilization cycle time, temperature, and relevant process parameters accurately.

• Maintain applicable batch records, cleaning logs, and sterilization logs.

• Ensure documentation is updated in a timely manner according to GMP requirements.

• Record and report process deviations as per established procedures.

• Support the maintenance of equipment records and cycle validation documentation.

• Ensure records are complete, legible, accurate, and available for review by authorized personnel.

6. Equipment Maintenance and Housekeeping

• Perform routine cleaning of autoclave equipment and washing machines.

• Support routine equipment maintenance activities as assigned.

• Check the equipment's operating condition before and after use, according to approved procedures.

• Report equipment malfunctions, unusual operating conditions, or maintenance requirements.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the assigned production area.

• Follow established procedures for equipment shutdown, cleaning, and readiness for subsequent use.

• Coordinate with the relevant maintenance team when technical assistance is required.

7. GMP, Safety and Compliance

• Follow applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company quality procedures.

• Adhere to approved SOPs for equipment washing, autoclave operation, and sterilization.

• Follow personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and workplace safety rules.

• Handle hot materials carefully after autoclave operations.

• Follow applicable precautions while working with hot surfaces, steam, and sterilization equipment.

• Maintain appropriate hygiene and housekeeping practices.

• Report unsafe conditions, equipment abnormalities, and deviations to the responsible supervisor.

• Support compliance with the organization's applicable manufacturing and documentation requirements.
