Job Summary
The Head of Quality Control will provide strategic and tactical leadership over all QC laboratory and floor-level testing operations. You will oversee the enforcement of quality standards, manage regulatory and safety compliance, investigate product defects, and drive continuous improvement across the manufacturing or operational lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Operational Oversight: Develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Control strategy, testing policies, and operational workflows in alignment with company goals and industry regulations (e.g., ISO, cGMP, HACCP, or equivalent).
- Inspection & Testing Management: Oversee raw material sampling, in-process testing, and finished product verification to ensure zero-defect output and process integrity.
- Compliance & Audits: Lead internal quality audits and manage external/regulatory inspections (FDA, ISO, health authorities, or client audits).
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate customer complaints, non-conformances (NCR), and major quality deviations, deploying Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Hire, train, supervise, and mentor QC engineers, inspectors, and laboratory technicians; set performance KPIs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Production, Engineering, R&D, and Supply Chain teams to integrate quality checkpoints early in the product lifecycle
- Data Reporting: Track and report key quality metrics, defect rates, waste reduction, and compliance trends to senior management.
Required Qualifications & Education
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Mechanical/Industrial Engineering, or a related science/technical field (Doctorate or Pharm.D preferred depending on industry).
- Experience: Minimum of 8–10+ years of progressive experience in quality control/assurance within [insert industry, e.g., Pharmaceuticals / Manufacturing / Food Processing], with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), and relevant ISO standards.
Key Skills & Competencies
- Strong proficiency in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), CAPA, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
- Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification is a strong plus).
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership, conflict-resolution, and cross-functional communication skills.
