AutoCAD Drafter – Pressure Vessels

Job Description:

Job Purpose

To prepare engineering and fabrication drawings for pressure vessels and oil and gas process equipment from approved calculations, process data and design inputs.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare GA drawings for horizontal and vertical pressure vessels.
• Prepare shell, head, nozzle, manway, support, saddle and attachment fabrication details.
• Prepare vessel fabrication drawings, plate-development details and assembly drawings.
• Prepare nozzle orientation drawings, nozzle schedules and flange details.
• Prepare piping isometrics and equipment connection drawings where required.
• Prepare weld maps, BOMs, material take-offs and fabrication cutting lists.
• Develop drawings for three-phase separators, test separators, surge tanks, sand traps and associated equipment.
• Incorporate approved engineering calculations and design comments into drawings.
• Maintain revision control, drawing registers, revision clouds and document numbering.
• Coordinate with engineering, QC, fabrication and procurement to resolve drawing discrepancies.
• Prepare as-built drawings based on approved fabrication/site changes.
• Clearly identify dimensions, materials, pressure ratings, nozzle sizes, welding details and applicable fabrication notes.

Mandatory Technical Knowledge

• AutoCAD 2D drafting and fabrication drawing production.
• ASME Section VIII, Division 1 requirements relevant to vessel detailing.
• Vessel geometry, shell thickness inputs, head profiles, nozzle reinforcement concepts and flange ratings.
• ASME B16.5 dimensions and applicable piping component standards.
• Weld symbols, material grades, fabrication tolerances, BOMs and drawing revision control.
• Understanding of design pressure, design temperature, MAWP and corrosion allowance as provided by the responsible engineer.
