Job Description:
- Responsibilities
- Manage site installations and periodic visits
- Manage site serviceability and availability (incl spares pool)
- Manage diagnosis and rectification of site unserviceability’s
- Manage non-IT element of Control Centre (AC, UPS)
- Manage site Hut manufacture
- Support Control Centre Team Leader
- Responsible for site safety
- Skills & Capabilities
- Ability to cope with unexpected problems/changes and ability to rapidly replan work schedules and develop contingency plans
- Strong failure analysis and diagnostic skills
- Experienced in installation and maintenance of Trackside equipment installations
- Experienced in design, supervision and execution of trackside civil works (non-reinforced concreting, trenching, cable sleeving in conduit and laying, retaining walls)
- Experienced in diagnosing failures with PC based wayside sensor systems and data acquisition systems
- Experienced in Industrial, IP based networking and communications links (3G/4G mobile data and IR OFC network)
- Experienced in Windows based batch files, files systems (local storage, shared volumes and network shares), FTP servers, custom windows applications (understanding operation, but not development)
- Experienced in 24Vdc battery and charging systems, ELV DC wiring
- Experienced in 240V ac electrical distribution, surge protection and earthing
- Experience in operating and maintaining data centre style air conditioning and UPS systems (e.g. APC, Eaton etc.)
- Demonstrated experienced in 240Vac and 24V DC electrical and OFC wiring, terminations and LAN cabling
- Ability to use electronic and optical test equipment, such as multimeters, OTDRs, sound level meters
- Familiarity with IP based surveillance/security cameras and alarm systems
- Fluency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong English verbal and written communication ability
- Self-motivated, demonstrated ability to lead small technical teams
- Strong organisational skills and patience for tedious tasks (maintenance of planned and unplanned site visit records, maintenance of spares usage records, support activity logs)
- No discernible evidence of tendency to cut corners, leave work unfinished or transfer/delegate tasks to other staff not capable or suited to tasks.
