Job Description:
A Process Shift Incharge's core responsibilities are to manage and oversee operations during their shift, ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are met. Key duties include supervising shift personnel, coordinating with other departments, monitoring process performance, troubleshooting operational issues, maintaining equipment, and reporting on shift activities to management. 
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise Operations:
    Lead and direct the production team to ensure the smooth execution of processes. 
     
  • Meet Production Targets:
    Monitor and ensure that daily production goals and quality standards are consistently achieved. 
     
  • Ensure Safety & Compliance:
    Implement and enforce company policies, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines to maintain a safe work environment. 
     
  • Personnel Management:
    Motivate, train, and mentor shift employees, providing support and addressing performance issues. 
     
  • Troubleshooting & Problem-Solving:
    Identify and resolve operational issues, process deviations, and equipment malfunctions to minimize downtime. 
     
  • Quality Control:
    Monitor production processes to ensure adherence to quality standards and customer requirements. 
     
  • Coordination:
    Collaborate with other departments and service units to ensure a seamless workflow and effective communication. 
     
  • Reporting:
    Maintain accurate shift logs, prepare detailed reports on activities and incidents, and communicate information to upper management. 
     
  • Continuous Improvement:
    Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance efficiency and productivity. 
     
  • Equipment Maintenance:
    Coordinate with maintenance teams for timely equipment repairs and ensure machinery is functioning optimally.

The company is in midst of implementing a 0.42 Million Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant to produce steel. Steel thus produced will consume 0.315 Million Tonne Sponge Iron from the proposed unit and 0.03 Million Tonne from the existing unit. Thus consuming the entire quantity of high grade sponge iron produced in its own manufacturing facilities. When iron is smelted from its ore by commercial processes, it contains more carbon, phosphorus, sulphar etc. than is desirable. To produce high quality steel, the elements must be brought to the within the desirable limits. The liquid steel is processed through AOD and VOD furnaces to achieve the desirable limits of elements. The liquid is then continuously casted into long slabs or through ingots.
