Key responsibilities
- Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement operational policies and strategies that align with corporate goals.
- Operations and Production Management: Oversee all aspects of the manufacturing operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
- Financial Oversight: Manage the plant's budget, control costs, and drive initiatives to maximize profitability and operational efficiency.
- Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing management team and all plant employees. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all plant operations are compliant with safety, environmental, and industry-specific regulatory standards.
- Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma, to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize performance.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the plant and senior corporate leadership, as well as with external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
- Resource Allocation: Effectively manage and optimize the allocation of all plant resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials.
Qualifications and skills
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Production) is typically required, with an MBA or a related master's degree often preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 25-30 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with a significant portion spent in a senior leadership role within a plant.
- Experience within a heavy industry (e.g., steel, as is common in Asansol) is highly advantageous.
