Job Summary
The VP/Head of the Asansol Plant is responsible for leading all plant operations to achieve business objectives, production targets, and quality standards. The role involves optimizing manufacturing processes, managing budgets, and ensuring strict adherence to safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. The VP provides strategic leadership to foster a culture of continuous improvement, productivity, and employee engagement. 
Key responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Develop and implement operational policies and strategies that align with corporate goals.
  • Operations and Production Management: Oversee all aspects of the manufacturing operations, including production, quality control, maintenance, and logistics.
  • Financial Oversight: Manage the plant's budget, control costs, and drive initiatives to maximize profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing management team and all plant employees. Foster a positive and productive work environment.
  • Compliance and Safety: Ensure that all plant operations are compliant with safety, environmental, and industry-specific regulatory standards.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives, such as Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma, to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and optimize performance.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between the plant and senior corporate leadership, as well as with external stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Resource Allocation: Effectively manage and optimize the allocation of all plant resources, including manpower, equipment, and materials. 
Qualifications and skills
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Production) is typically required, with an MBA or a related master's degree often preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 25-30 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with a significant portion spent in a senior leadership role within a plant.
    • Experience within a heavy industry (e.g., steel, as is common in Asansol) is highly advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of production processes, maintenance procedures, and quality control standards. Expertise in lean manufacturing and process optimization.
