QA Tester - BFSI, Software Test Engineer - BFSI, Functional Tester - Quality Assurance Analyst -
Financial Services.
A "Tester in BFSI" (Banking, Financial Services) is a quality assurance professional responsible for
rigorously testing software applications within the BFSI domain, ensuring functionalities are
accurate, secure, compliant with regulations, and deliver a seamless user experience, by designing
test cases, executing tests, identifying defects, and collaborating with development teams to resolve
issues across various banking, financial, and insurance systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Requirement Analysis:
Thoroughly understand business requirements and functional specifications for banking,
financial, and insurance applications to translate them into effective test cases.
Test Case Design:
Develop comprehensive test scenarios and test cases covering various functionalities like
account opening, transactions, loan applications, policy management, and customer service
interactions, including positive, negative, and boundary value testing.
Test Execution:
Execute manual and automated tests on web, mobile, and desktop platforms, logging
defects accurately, and prioritizing issues based on severity and impact.
Defect Management:
Track and manage identified defects through the defect management system, providing
clear descriptions, steps to reproduce, and expected behaviour to facilitate timely resolution
with development teams.
Regression Testing:
Perform regression testing to ensure new code changes do not introduce regressions in
existing functionalities.
Performance Testing:
Participate in performance testing activities to evaluate application response time,
scalability, and stability under high load conditions.
Security Testing:
Execute security testing to identify potential vulnerabilities in applications, including
penetration testing, authentication checks, and data encryption validation.
Compliance Testing:
Ensure application compliance with relevant BFSI regulations like KYC, AML, data privacy
laws, SEBI and industry standards.
User Acceptance Testing (UAT):
Collaborate with business users to conduct UAT to validate the system meets their
requirements and expectations.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare detailed test reports, summarizing test results, defect analysis, and testing progress
to stakeholders.
Required Skills:
Must Have
understanding of software testing methodologies (black-box, white-box, regression testing)
Knowledge of BFSI domain concepts (banking products, Capital Market, financial
instruments, insurance and Mutual fund)
Experience with test management tools (Jira)
Experience with Postman or other API gateways
Experience in Mobile application testing (Android and IOS) and Web Application Testing
Clear Understanding of software development / testing lifecycle
Good communication skills
Experience in working in fast faced agile projects
Good to have
Automation testing frameworks (Selenium, Appium) for increased efficiency
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
