As a Power Plant Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, construction, operation, and maintenance of power plants. You will also be responsible for the development of new power plant technologies. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and experience in the power plant industry.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and oversee the construction of new power plants or the expansion of existing ones
- Conduct feasibility studies to determine whether a proposed project is economically viable
- Develop cost estimates for materials, equipment, and labor
- Prepare reports and presentations for upper management, shareholders, government agencies, and the general public
- Manage and coordinate the work of other engineers, technicians, and support staff
- Ensure that projects are completed on time and within budget
- Monitor plant operations and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with safety regulations and efficient use of resources
- Investigate and troubleshoot problems with plant equipment and systems
- Develop plans for the replacement of aging equipment and the implementation of new technologies
- Keep abreast of advances in technology and make recommendations for the adoption of new technologies
- Assist in the development and implementation of environmental protection policies
- Provide training and mentorship to less experienced engineers

Company Profile
The company is in midst of implementing a 0.42 Million Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant to produce steel. Steel thus produced will consume 0.315 Million Tonne Sponge Iron from the proposed unit and 0.03 Million Tonne from the existing unit. Thus consuming the entire quantity of high grade sponge iron produced in its own manufacturing facilities. When iron is smelted from its ore by commercial processes, it contains more carbon, phosphorus, sulphar etc. than is desirable. To produce high quality steel, the elements must be brought to the within the desirable limits. The liquid steel is processed through AOD and VOD furnaces to achieve the desirable limits of elements. The liquid is then continuously casted into long slabs or through ingots.
