Responsibilities for mechanical manager
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight to less experienced personnel as necessary including encouraging/assisting with their career advancement
  • Strive to understand all aspects of the Mechanical Design process by becoming actively involved in project work
  • Manages and coordinates all on-site construction activities for compliance with the CPM schedule and monitors and enforces compliance with contract requirements
  • Has hiring and staffing responsibility for a team of 15-20 non-exempt mechanical designers effective management of contract designers and outsourcing agencies to manage through peak workloads
  • Works closely with the Project Manager and Engineering Manager to ensure that the overall team meets its goals of safety, cost, schedule, quality, and reliability for all designed equipment
  • Provides leadership and mentorship to direct reports
  • Drives productivity improvements trough effective use of tools and work process improvements
  • Works with R&D, product line, and the team’s lead technical people to incorporate new technology into designs
  • Maintains close contact with our fabrication shops to help clarify design questions and receive feedback on future design improvements
  • Evaluates alternatives and finds solutions using a systematic approach, seeks guidance from other experienced team members to develop improvements and innovations to enhance designs
Company Profile

The company is in midst of implementing a 0.42 Million Tonne Per Annum (MTPA) integrated steel plant to produce steel. Steel thus produced will consume 0.315 Million Tonne Sponge Iron from the proposed unit and 0.03 Million Tonne from the existing unit. Thus consuming the entire quantity of high grade sponge iron produced in its own manufacturing facilities. When iron is smelted from its ore by commercial processes, it contains more carbon, phosphorus, sulphar etc. than is desirable. To produce high quality steel, the elements must be brought to the within the desirable limits. The liquid steel is processed through AOD and VOD furnaces to achieve the desirable limits of elements. The liquid is then continuously casted into long slabs or through ingots.
