Job Description:

Essential Job duties:

  • Generates 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) plant layouts and drawings using Microstation / Auto CAD / Smart Sketch from detailed design 3-D CAD model with minimal guidance from others.
  • Knowledge of Revit shall be added advantage.
  • Proficient in S3D modelling – Equipment modelling, Raceway, Grounding and lighting.
  • Works independently in the preparation of 3-D CAD design model under the supervision of experienced designers. Assists in constructing detailed models and participates in client model reviews.
  • Prepares design calculations as applicable, to be used in the discipline.
  • Prepares bulk material quantity takeoffs and material requisitions for materials applicable to the discipline.
  • Reviews calculations, design models, drawings and design documents prepared by others in the group and by material suppliers, as assigned.
  •  Answers questions from client or construction group on design for assigned responsibility.
  • Compiles, maintains and accesses job drawing files, records, and drawing controls.
  • Works with designers in other disciplines to coordinate overall design and technical requirements.
  • Participates in and fosters a work environment that is based upon openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.

 

Job Knowledge:

  • 10 Years of experience, Sound knowledge of CAD design and drafting techniques using S3D, Revit, Microstation/AutoCAD, engineering drawing, graphic arts, reading of drawings and reproduction methods used by the discipline.

  • Familiarity with relevant design standards and guides, Skill in reading, interpreting, and using related documents and drawings prepared by other project groups.

  • Knowledge of the application of engineering and construction materials related to the discipline’s design responsibilities.

  • Basic Knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, design criteria, and codes relevant to the discipline.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Raceway, lighting, grounding design and modelling, cable sizing.

  • General knowledge of technical responsibilities of other groups associated with the total design effort.

  • Experience in using Navisworks for model review and clash detection, proficiency in SPR.

  • Extraction and preparation of material quantity take-offs from design drawings.

  • Able to work in a team and cross functional environment.       

  • Skill in leading the technical work of less experienced designers and/or drafters who share in the design effort.
