Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Shot Blasting Machine Operator to join our ductile iron casting foundry team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating shot blasting machines to prepare ductile iron castings for further processing and finishing. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of shot blasting processes, safety protocols, and be able to work efficiently in a fast-paced foundry environment.
Responsibilities:
- Machine Operation:
- Operate shot blasting machines to clean and prepare ductile iron castings for finishing processes.
- Set up and adjust machine parameters such as blast wheel speed, conveyor speed, and shot flow rate.
- Monitor the shot blasting process to ensure consistent and high-quality results.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues that may arise during the shot blasting process.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect ductile iron castings before and after shot blasting to ensure conformity to quality standards.
- Remove any residual sand, scale, or other impurities from castings to meet specified cleanliness requirements.
- Conduct visual inspections for surface defects and take corrective actions as needed.
- Safety and Maintenance:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols while operating shot blasting machines.
- Perform routine maintenance on shot blasting equipment to ensure proper functionality.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to the maintenance team.
- Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of shot blasting parameters, production quantities, and any quality issues.
- Complete production logs and documentation to track machine performance and efficiency.
- Collaboration:
- Coordinate with other team members, including foundry technicians and quality control personnel, to ensure smooth workflow.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team leaders to report progress and address any issues that may impact production.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in the shot blasting operation.
- Participate in training programs to stay updated on new technologies and techniques related to shot blasting in the ductile iron casting industry.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a shot blasting machine operator in a ductile iron casting foundry or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of shot blasting processes and equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and the ability to adhere to strict safety guidelines.
- Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
