Job Description:
  1. Oversee the operation and maintenance of water treatment plants, including clarifiers, filters, chemical dosing systems, and other treatment units, to ensure compliance with quality standards and environmental regulations.
  2. Monitor water quality parameters, such as pH, turbidity, conductivity, and chemical concentrations, using appropriate testing equipment and instrumentation.
  3. Conduct regular inspections and audits of water treatment facilities to identify issues, inefficiencies, or potential hazards, and implement corrective actions as needed.
  4. Develop and implement operational procedures, protocols, and best practices for the safe and efficient operation of water treatment systems, including start-up, shutdown, and emergency procedures.
  5. Coordinate with the environmental department to ensure compliance with discharge permits, effluent limits, and other regulatory requirements related to water discharges and wastewater management.
  6. Manage the inventory of chemicals, consumables, and spare parts required for water treatment operations, and ensure adequate stock levels to support continuous operation.
  7. Supervise and train water treatment operators and technicians on proper operating procedures, safety protocols, and equipment maintenance practices.
  8. Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to the water treatment team to foster continuous improvement and professional development.
  9. Collaborate with process engineers, maintenance personnel, and other departments to optimize water usage, minimize water consumption, and reduce wastewater generation.
  10. Implement water conservation initiatives and efficiency improvement projects to reduce operating costs and environmental impact.
  11. Maintain accurate records of water treatment operations, including chemical usage, process parameters, maintenance activities, and compliance documentation.
  12. Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions, process upsets, and emergencies to minimize downtime and mitigate potential risks to plant operations.
  13. Participate in safety meetings, hazard assessments, and incident investigations to promote a culture of safety awareness and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  14. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in water treatment and environmental management, and incorporate them into plant operations and strategies.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in water treatment operations and management, preferably in the steel manufacturing or heavy industry sector.
  3. Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, equipment, and technologies, including coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection.
  4. Familiarity with environmental regulations, permits, and standards related to water quality, wastewater discharge, and pollution prevention.
  5. Proven leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team of water treatment professionals.
  6. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on process optimization and continuous improvement.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  8. Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and practices related to water treatment operations and industrial processes.
  9. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  10. Proficiency in using computerized process control systems, data analysis software, and Microsoft Office applications.
