Job Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Operate and control boiler systems, including coal-fired boilers, biomass boilers, or other types of boilers, to produce steam for electricity generation.
- Monitor boiler parameters, such as water level, steam pressure, temperature, and fuel flow, using control systems and instrumentation to maintain optimal operating conditions.
- Execute start-up and shutdown procedures for boilers in accordance with standard operating procedures, safety protocols, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Coordinate with shift personnel and control room operators to ensure smooth transition during boiler startup, shutdown, and changeover procedures.
- Monitor fuel feed systems, pulverizers, and combustion controls to ensure proper fuel delivery, combustion efficiency, and emission control.
- Adjust air-to-fuel ratios, combustion settings, and auxiliary equipment to optimize boiler performance and minimize emissions.
- Monitor water quality, pH levels, and chemical dosing systems to ensure proper water treatment and boiler chemistry control.
- Conduct routine water analysis tests, adjust chemical dosages, and maintain water chemistry within specified limits to prevent scale buildup, corrosion, and boiler tube failures.
- Adhere to safety protocols, procedures, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others in the plant.
- Implement environmental control measures, such as emissions monitoring, particulate control, and ash handling, to comply with environmental regulations and minimize environmental impact.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, inspections, and lubrication activities on boiler equipment to ensure reliability, longevity, and compliance with maintenance schedules.
- Conduct visual inspections, pressure tests, and tube inspections to detect leaks, corrosion, or other defects in boiler components.
- Respond promptly to alarms, abnormal conditions, or emergency situations, and take appropriate actions to mitigate risks, protect personnel, and safeguard equipment.
- Follow emergency procedures, evacuation protocols, and incident reporting guidelines to ensure effective response and documentation of incidents.
