Job Description:

The role of a PDC Quality/NPD Head typically involves overseeing the quality management and new product development processes within a company's Product Development Center (PDC). Here's a breakdown of what this role might entail:

  1. Quality Management:

    • Developing and implementing quality assurance procedures to ensure that products meet required standards and specifications.
    • Establishing quality control measures throughout the product development lifecycle, from design to manufacturing.

    • Analyzing quality data and implementing corrective actions to address issues and prevent defects.
  2. New Product Development (NPD):

    • Leading cross-functional teams in the development of new products or product enhancements.
    • Collaborating with research and development teams to define project objectives, timelines, and resource requirements.
    • Managing the NPD process from concept generation and feasibility analysis to prototype development and commercialization.
    • Ensuring that new products meet customer needs, market requirements, and business objectives.
    • Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and implementing strategies to mitigate them.
  3. Team Leadership:

    • Providing leadership and guidance to quality and NPD teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
    • Setting clear goals and expectations for team members, and providing regular feedback and coaching.
    • Facilitating communication and collaboration between different departments and stakeholders involved in quality and NPD activities.
  4. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identifying opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains in both quality management and NPD processes.
    • Implementing best practices and methodologies to enhance product quality, reduce time-to-market, and minimize costs.
    • Promoting a culture of learning and development within the organization, encouraging employees to acquire new skills and knowledge relevant to quality and NPD.
