Job Description:
Position Title: Production Manager

Job Summary:

  • The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the production process to ensure efficient operations and the timely delivery of high-quality products. They manage production schedules, supervise staff, and implement strategies to optimize productivity and minimize costs while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Production Planning and Scheduling:

    • Develop and maintain production schedules to meet customer demand and production targets.
    • Coordinate with sales, inventory, and procurement teams to ensure adequate materials and resources are available.
    • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address delays or issues.
  2. Staff Supervision and Training:

    • Recruit, train, and supervise production staff.
    • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members.
    • Provide coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  3. Quality Control:

    • Implement quality control measures to ensure products meet company standards and customer requirements.
    • Monitor production processes and conduct inspections to identify and address quality issues.
    • Collaborate with quality assurance teams to implement improvements and corrective actions.
  4. Resource Management:

    • Optimize use of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment, to maximize efficiency and minimize waste.
    • Coordinate maintenance and repair of production equipment to ensure uninterrupted operations.
    • Evaluate and recommend investments in new technologies or equipment to improve productivity.
  5. Cost Management:

    • Develop and manage production budgets.
    • Identify opportunities to reduce production costs without compromising quality or safety.
    • Monitor expenses and implement cost-saving initiatives.
  6. Safety and Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
    • Promote a culture of safety awareness and adherence to best practices.
    • Investigate and address safety incidents or violations promptly.
  7. Continuous Improvement:

    • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains.
    • Implement Lean manufacturing principles or other methodologies to streamline workflows and reduce waste.
    • Encourage innovation and creativity among production teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in production management or manufacturing leadership roles required.
  • Strong knowledge of production processes, quality standards, and safety regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and production management software.
  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma or other relevant certifications may be advantageous.
