MECHANICAL HEAD - POWER PLANT - RAICHUR (35 MW )

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

1. Lead and manage the mechanical maintenance team, including technicians and engineers, to ensure smooth operations and timely completion of maintenance tasks.
2. Develop and implement maintenance strategies, procedures, and schedules to maximize equipment uptime and minimize downtime.
3. Conduct regular inspections and assessments of mechanical systems, equipment, and machinery to identify maintenance needs, defects, or potential issues.
4. Plan and prioritize maintenance activities based on equipment criticality, production schedules, and resource availability.
5. Coordinate with production and operations teams to schedule and execute preventive and corrective maintenance activities without disrupting plant operations.
6. Troubleshoot mechanical failures, diagnose issues, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and maintain production targets.
7. Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, standards, and procedures, and promote a culture of safety awareness among the maintenance team.
8. Develop and maintain strong relationships with equipment suppliers, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely procurement of spare parts, materials, and services.
9. Monitor and analyze equipment performance data, maintenance records, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize maintenance processes.
10. Participate in the planning and execution of plant shutdowns, turnarounds, and capital projects, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
11. Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to mechanical maintenance staff to enhance their skills, knowledge, and performance.
12. Collaborate with engineering and reliability teams to assess equipment condition, reliability, and lifecycle costs, and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary.
13. Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, equipment histories, and inventory levels, using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other tools.
14. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in mechanical maintenance and reliability engineering, and incorporate them into plant operations and maintenance strategies.

Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Master's degree preferred.
2. Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical maintenance and engineering, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or leadership role within the steel industry or similar heavy industry sector.
3. Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment, and processes used in steel manufacturing, including but not limited to rolling mills, blast furnaces, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
4. Proven leadership and managerial skills, with the ability to effectively lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team of maintenance professionals.
5. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
6. Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
7. Hands-on experience with maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or similar tools.
8. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
9. Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and practices related to mechanical maintenance and industrial operations.
10. Ability to work effectively under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
