Job Profile:
  • The Officer Health & Safety under the directions of Director (HR&PR) is responsible for ensuring that all Health and Safety activities across the various business units and sites are coordinated and consistent with S&H Policy. He is responsible for providing all personnel of the company with information, guidance, and support on Health and Safety matters. His key areas of responsibility include the following:-
  • The formulation and development of Health and Safety policies in line with best practice, current and proposed changes in Health & Safety legislation.
  • Liaise with other Managers to communicate any changes in Health and Safety
  • The structuring of the Health and Safety Management System to promote a positive Health and Safety culture and effective uniform implementation of the policy in the company.
  • Liaising with Managers and Employees to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in relation to Health and Safety and establishing and adopting best practices.
  • Planning for Health and Safety, setting objectives and performance standards with Management Teams.
  • Organize quarterly reviews with Managers to monitor the progress of local Health and Safety plans and performance against Health and Safety objectives set.
  • Monitoring of inspections, risk assessments and audits to ensure that the effectiveness of the Health and Safety Management System is maintained and improved
  • Audits to ensure compliance with safety requirements.
  • Maintaining an adequate library of information on all appropriate aspects of Health and Safety law and practice
  • Ensuring that the company maintains up to date records relating to all aspects of the Health and Safety Management system.
  • Working with HR Department and Unit Managers to ensure that staff at all levels are given appropriate information and training on Health and Safety issues.
  • Maintaining working relationships with outside agencies such as the NMC, NESL, DRA, Fire Brigade, local authorities, contractors etc.
  • Safety inspection of lifting tools and tackles, hand tools, heavy equipment, Gas cylinder storage, Gas cutting operation, welding operation, electrical boards.
  • Preparing Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan.
  • Prepare & maintain the all applicable legal documents & compile the record.
  • Test, Inspection and Maintenance of all types of fire equipment.
  • Electrical safety, Material handling, loading and unloading. 
  • Conducting Mock drill and Mock drill related training.
  • Preparing all types of the checklist.
  • Lockout tag out system, Accident prevention.
  • Preparation of safety rules, discipline, Policy, Goals, New employee orientation,
  • Responsibilities of an employee for safety, EHS Manual.    
  • Identification of Hazards, Risk Assessment and Risk control.
  • Work permit system, Material handling and material storing 
  • New equipment review/inspection.
  • Organize various safety promotion activities around the year.
  • Formation and conducting of safety committee meeting.
  • Maintain safety related documents.
  • First-aid facility, first- aid treatment, employee medical checkup program.
  • Implementation of better housekeeping, ventilation, transport.
  • Preparing signboards and banner regarding safety.
  • Accident, investigation and reporting.
  • Preparing SOP of EHS Department.
