Job Description:

WORKING CONDITION: Factory/plant environment with several hours to work as per need.

 

Job Description: Manager (Production) -LA (Fermentation, Separation, De colourization and Purification) Section

Reports To: Production Head

Job Objective-:To establish, maintain and sustain all included process conditions as Manager to ensure -the consistent production of Lactic Acid of desired quality, while maximizing efficiency and meeting specified norms for following unit operations:

  • Raw Material Preparation- Prepare raw materials to maximize the yield of Lactic acid from sugars or sugary liquids extracted from sugar cane.
  • Fermentation of carbohydrate media into LA-Oversee shift operations to maintain specified norms for the fermentation process, ensuring efficient conversion of carbohydrate into LA.
  • Separation- Oversee shift operations to maintain specified norms for the Concentration, Filtration, Evaporation (MVR base) and Molecular distillation, ensuring efficient separation and concentration of LA.
  • De colourization &Purification- Oversee shift operations to maintain specified norms for the decolorization& Purification of LA through Ion Exchange resin and Granulated Activated Carbon with maximized efficiency.

ESSENTIAL ROLES &RESPONSIBILITIES (Project and Operation)-     

  1. Supervising shift operations to ensure adherence to process methods and specified norms as expected for production of desired quality LA with optimized uses of resources &maximum yields.
  2. Implement the required SOPs and protocols as per specified.
  3. Monitoring the performance of unit operations, identifying deviations, and implementing corrective actions, as necessary.
  4. Coordinating with shift personnel to optimize production efficiency and maintain specified quality standards.
  5. Ensuring compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements during all process operations
  6. Training and mentoring shift staff on operating procedures, safety protocols, and quality control measures
  7. Collaborating with other departments to address any cross-functional issues and improve overall plant performance.
  8. Maintaining accurate production records and reports to track process performance and identify areas for improvement.
  9. Provide a leadership role in developing a high standard for -1-consistent quality production and 2- working environment with co-ordination & team spirit.
  10. Support projects as the Shift process manager to establish efficient and reliable process control strategy, systems and equipments, also lead implementation of process improvement projects and plans.
  11. Take a lead role in project’s Operations package (Handling of the data given by Technology provider) and to establish user friendly systems for efficient and effective unit operations as specified.
  12. Participate in development of control philosophy, design, documentation, and implementation.
  13. Need base participation in HAZOPs and LOPA studies.
  14. Responsible for developing and implementing unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups plans including cleaning, maintenance, and readiness of equipments.
  15. Identify and champion ways to create value through process optimization systems on continual basis in production facility.
  16. Ensure capability development of team by identifying training needs and nominating them for training programs.     
  17. Conduct formal performance assessment for the team and provide performance and developmental feedback.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE –

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Polymer Science, or a related field. Master's degree or Ph.D. will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 5-8years’ experience in fermentation technology and bio processing, biotransformation, and other biochemical processes carried out by living.

  • Well versed in distillation, separation and other decolorization technologies and related trouble shooting.
  • Experience in the fermentation industry, in manufacturing environment, with specific experience in Filter Presses, MEE, MVR, IER & GAC for day to day trouble shooting.
  • Working on centralized control system (DCS and SCADA)
  • Management of large team on the shop floor
  • Safety and Regulatory Adherence
    Ensuring that processes meet safety standards and comply with industry regulations is a critical aspect of their role.
  • Communication and Teamwork
    Process Control Engineers work closely with cross-functional teams, so effective communication and teamwork skills are essential.
