Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Mechanic to join our fleet maintenance team. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in diesel mechanics and extensive experience in overhauling CATERPILLAR engines, specifically the 35 series, as well as maintaining and repairing CAT dozers and excavators.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine and preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles, focusing on CAT dozers, excavators, and other heavy equipment.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, specifically with CATERPILLAR engines, and perform necessary repairs and overhauls.
• Conduct inspections and tests on engines and mechanical components to ensure proper functioning and adherence to safety standards.
• Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance tasks, and parts used.
• Collaborate with the fleet management team to schedule maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Ensure all tools and equipment are maintained in good working order and are used safely.
• Train and supervise junior mechanics and provide guidance as needed.

Mandatory Qualifications and Skills:

• Diploma in Diesel Mechanics or equivalent certification.
• Proven experience in overhauling CATERPILLAR engines, particularly the 35 series.
• Strong background in maintaining and repairing CAT dozers and excavators.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and perform repairs efficiently.
• Excellent understanding of mechanical systems and components.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience with fleet maintenance management.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems and dredge pump repair and maintenance.
• Familiarity with maintenance of dredgers and related equipment.
• Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
