Job Description:

Job Title: Assistant General Manager - Design
Location: Goa
Reporting To: Head of Design

Qualification:

  • BE or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering

Skills Required:

  • Good communication skills
  • Strong drafting skills
  • Proficient in computer applications, including CREO, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledgeable in desktop publishing, email communication, and internet research

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead the introduction of new bus models, including styling, design concept study, model selection, project estimation, costing, and creation of conceptual drawings.
  2. Formulate and execute product development strategies for both short-term and long-term plans.
  3. Ensure FEA (Finite Element Analysis) validation of bus structures for all new developments.
  4. Design and develop variants of existing bus products.
  5. Evaluate and participate in tender processes.
  6. Oversee the certification of bus products in accordance with regulations.
  7. Lead the value engineering team to enhance product value.
  8. Optimize the cost of bus production through effective strategies.
  9. Collaborate with new vendors for the development of bus parts.
  10. Supervise production-related tasks, including planning, control, and troubleshooting to achieve periodic production schedules.
  11. Implement prototype projects for regular production through proper systems.
  12. Prepare bus proposal drawings and documents for tenders.
  13. Standardize bus assembly parts to improve inventory control.
  14. Serve as project coordinator for the development of electrical buses and other new projects in collaboration with TML.
  15. Lead troubleshooting efforts for production-related issues.
  16. Conduct warranty analysis, problem investigation, resolution, quality improvement, and value engineering.
  17. Work on testing new bus models, variants, and bus body components, and liaise with automobile testing agencies such as ARAI, CIRT, and VRDE to obtain necessary approvals.
  18. Implement processes and systems for regular production.
  19. Coordinate activities with suppliers, designers, assembly engineers, quality engineers, testing teams, and the supply department for new product development.
  20. Develop excellent problem-solving skills through a broad range of experience in engineering positions, focusing on vehicle quality, reliability, and field concerns.
  21. Consult and respond to inquiries from local and overseas clients regarding bus and coach design, specifications, installations, and general design modifications.
  22. Estimate and cost new developments, and assess the man-hours required for projects.
