Job Description:
- Research: Study fashion trends and anticipate what consumers will like
- Design: Create designs using computer-aided design (CAD) programs or by hand
- Select materials: Choose fabrics, colors, embellishments, and trims
- Prototype: Work with other designers to create prototype designs
- Present: Present designs to creative directors or showcase them at fashion shows
- Market: Market designs to consumers or clothing retailers
- Produce: Oversee the final production of designs, including fittings, detailing, and adaptations
- Collaborate: Work with other designers, buyers, forecasters, sales, and production teams
- Manage: Manage marketing, finances, and other business activities if self-employed
