Position Overview:
The Fabric Merchandiser is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and managing fabrics for garment production. This includes ensuring the timely delivery of quality fabrics, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining effective communication between internal teams and external vendors. The role demands attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks while ensuring cost-efficiency and quality standards are met.
Key Responsibilities:

Fabric Sourcing & Procurement:
- Source and procure fabrics based on design specifications and production requirements.
- Negotiate prices and build relationships with fabric suppliers.
- Ensure timely delivery of fabrics in alignment with the production schedule.

Inventory Management:
- Maintain optimal levels of fabric stock to meet production demands.
- Monitor fabric usage and reorder materials as needed, ensuring minimal production delays.

Supplier Coordination:
- Collaborate with fabric suppliers to ensure timely delivery, quality control, and cost-effectiveness.
- Resolve any issues related to defective fabrics or delivery delays.

Cost Management:
- Monitor fabric procurement costs and ensure they remain within budget.
- Propose cost-saving strategies while ensuring fabric quality standards are met.

Quality Control:
- Inspect fabrics to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards.
- Verify that all fabrics match the required specifications before procurement and delivery.

Production Coordination:
- Work closely with production teams to ensure timely availability of fabrics for the manufacturing process.
- Adjust fabric orders in response to changes in production needs.

Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of fabric orders, supplier agreements, and inventory levels.
- Provide regular reports on fabric usage, procurement costs, and inventory status to management.

Market & Trend Research:
- Stay informed about fabric trends and new material innovations.
- Attend fabric fairs and exhibitions to source new materials and identify market trends.
Qualifications and Skills:

Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Textile Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in fabric merchandising or a similar role within the textile/garment industry.
- Strong knowledge of fabrics, textiles, and garment production processes.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.).

Preferred:
- Experience working with both local and international fabric suppliers.
- Familiarity with quality control processes and standards for textiles.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
