Preferred Candidate Profile:
Experience: 3 to 4 years of experience in plastic injection mould design, specifically for engineering components.
Qualification: Diploma or B.E. in Mechanical Engineering, Plastic Engineering, or Tool & Die Making.
Skills & Expertise:
Hands-on experience in 3D design software (preferably PTC Creo) for solid modelling, surface modelling, and creating 2D drawings.
Proficient in 2D design software (preferably AutoCAD).
Detailed knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and its application in mould design.
Thorough understanding of plastic mould design principles and the plastic mould manufacturing process.
In-depth knowledge of plastic materials and their properties, including selection based on material suitability for various moulding processes.
Familiarity with product development processes, from concept to final design.
Strong skills in reverse engineering of existing components and moulds.
Meticulous in daily documentation and record-keeping related to designs, materials, and processes.
Knowledge of measuring instruments for quality checks and dimensions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Mould Design: Create precise and functional designs for plastic injection moulds, focusing on engineering components using 3D design tools.
- 3D & 2D Modelling: Develop detailed 3D models and 2D drawings, ensuring all designs meet required specifications and tolerances.
- Material Selection: Assess and choose appropriate plastic materials based on their properties and suitability for specific moulding processes.
- Manufacturing Process: Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible and aligned with moulding processes, focusing on efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- GD&T Application: Ensure all designs comply with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards to guarantee accuracy and quality.
- Reverse Engineering: Perform reverse engineering for the redesign or improvement of existing moulds and components.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of all designs, revisions, and production details for quality control and compliance.
- Quality Control: Use measuring instruments to ensure all moulds meet design specifications and quality standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams (design, production, quality control) to ensure timely and efficient completion of mould designs.
- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot design and production challenges, providing innovative solutions to enhance performance and reduce production costs.
