Job Description:

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate UK Counsellor with strong experience in providing psychological support and guidance to individuals. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in counselling within the UK and a deep understanding of local cultural, social, and emotional issues. The counsellor will provide professional mental health support to clients, ensuring a safe and confidential environment for therapeutic interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counselling to clients dealing with a range of emotional and mental health issues.
  • Offer support for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, trauma, and more.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK mental health policies and frameworks to deliver culturally competent support.
  • Conduct initial assessments and create individualized treatment plans for clients.
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, social services, and external agencies when needed.
  • Provide ongoing support and follow-up care as required.
  • Adhere to ethical guidelines and ensure confidentiality at all times.
  • Keep accurate and confidential records of all client interactions and treatment progress.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and training to stay updated with therapeutic practices.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • A degree or postgraduate qualification in Psychology, Counselling, or related fields 
  • Minimum of 2-5 years of proven experience working as a counsellor within the UK.
  • Accredited by a professional body, such as the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), National Counselling Society (NCS), or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of UK mental health issues, including societal and cultural factors.
  • Experience working with diverse populations, including those from various ethnic backgrounds and vulnerable groups.
  • Knowledge of UK mental health legislation, safeguarding protocols, and ethical standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and supportive environment under pressure.

Desirable Skills:

  • Additional certifications or experience in specific therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, Person-Centred, Solution-Focused).
  • Previous experience working in a clinical setting or in collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Familiarity with digital counselling tools or telehealth platforms.
