A maintenance engineer's job is to ensure that machinery continues to function properly.

This means that they need to have extensive knowledge of how machinery works and how to repair it. This can include knowing how to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics and diagrams.

Responsible for the repair and maintenance of mechanical systems, such as boilers, pumps and compressors.

They also work on electrical systems and may have a role in the installation and maintenance of industrial machinery.

A mechanical maintenance engineer's job description includes:
  • Equipment maintenance: Ensuring the quality of equipment and performing routine maintenance
