About the Job
As a Design Engineer your responsibility is to support the team in engineering tasks handle more than one project/s, and complete all tasks assigned to you according to business requirements. You are expected to work independently to complete projects accurately in a stipulated timeframe. Provide guidance and support to other team members as and when it is needed. The duties and responsibilities of the Design Engineer are not limited to those listed below. It may change based on business needs and/or as directed by your line manager.
- Develop 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using Solidworks by following effective modelling and drawing practice and ensuring information on drawings and documents aligns with the requirement.
- Follow defined company processes and standards.
- Supporting the development of products with an understanding of performance requirements, including all aspects of the product design criteria, product function, and customer needs.
- Ensuring quality in a product's design for usability, reliability, functionality, marketability, and ease of manufacture.
- Supporting efforts to verify and validate new product designs.
- Review of mechanical design calculations, fabrication drawings, and Job packages for gas transfer products, Emergency Release Couplings, Breakaway Couplings, Dry Break Couplings, pressure vessels, columns, and storage tanks by Design Code, Client datasheet, and Specifications.
- Complete and oversee functional testing on prototypes, including design of test units and tooling with recorded documentation.
- Applying design to cost and design for manufacturability methods to support the operations team in achieving project objectives.
- Collaborate as a team member with the design, sales, and project teams and contribute in the project and tasks assigned.
- Contributing as a team member on projects by carrying out responsibilities assigned to you.
- Working collaboratively with other team members in all aspects of work, including observing all Health and Safety measures.
- Research concept ideas using mathematical modeling to work out whether new developments and innovations would work and be cost-effective.
- Analyze the Engineering and Project input to interrogate it, reach an agreement, and integrate it formally in a Design solution.
- Analyses the design proposals and the technical information to identify the issues arising during product development, defining, and implementing adequate solutions to reach a feasible proposal.
- Attend design reviews to present design ideas and to discuss and critique alternative design solutions.
- Carry out simulations of products for new and prototype projects using in-house software for the customer and provide support and feedback on design.
- Analyze and manage multiple design-related issues to identify root causes.
- Modify designs based on the analysis to re-test and analyze until the design meets specification requirements.
- Make design changes to existing products.
- Track design changes.
- Control of Bill of Materials (BoM).
- Keep up with current and developing engineering trends.
- Undertake special projects as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement activities.
- Support process improvement activities.
- Attend various meetings and action/communicate instructions.
- Make presentations.
- Undertake continuous training and development.
- Provide technical guidance & training to team members.
- Prepare technical documents such as calculation reports, technical manuals, Standard Operating Procedures/Guidelines related to engineering activities, etc.
- Creation & submission of reports as requested from time to time.
- Communicate effectively to avoid ambiguity.

- BE. / B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering preferred 5 years of work experience in design and engineering.
- ME./ M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering preferred 3 years of work experience in design and engineering.
- Experience of Cryogenic materials, Valves, Couplings & Seal Technologies (preferred but not essential)
- Experience with Hydraulic and Pneumatic components and systems.
- Current or previous experience in the design and detailed engineering of pressure vessels, valves, columns, pipe sections, and storage tanks.
- Strong relevant experience in product design and development with a solid understanding of the product lifecycle.
- Demonstrable experience working in a manufacturing and fabrication environment.
- Ability to identify, break down, and solve difficult technical problems.
- Strong aptitude for hands-on engineering.
- Disciplined and well-organized in documentation (plans, requirements, drawings, design reviews).
- Experience working with ISO, ASME, EN requirements, and other relevant guidelines and regulations, such as PD 5500, EN 13445, ASME VIII Div. 1 & 2, ASME B31.3, B16.5, B16.47. NACE MR0175/ISO 1516
- Experienced in using ERP Systems, such as D365.
- Hands-on experience in Solidworks, DFMEA, Dassauly EPDM (Document management system).
