01.01.25   HPS/2025/05 Utility Technician M 5 1 to 3 DME/B.Tech Mech

Inspecting buildings, equipment, and systems to identify any issues.

Repairing faulty equipment units and damaged structures. Developing and implementing preventative maintenance procedures. Managing heating and plumbing systems to guarantee functionality.

Assembling, installing, and maintaining mechanical systems, machinery, and equipment. Troubleshooting machinery and performing routine preventative maintenance. Reading, interpreting, and following instructions and operation manuals. Maintaining a schedule for inspecting, servicing, and testing machinery.

 

A utility worker's job description may include:
  • Cleaning
    Cleaning and disinfecting buildings and properties, including floors, walls, windows, and other surfaces
  • Maintenance
    Performing basic maintenance on buildings and properties, such as oiling door hinges, replacing light bulbs, and repairing lockers
  • Equipment operation
    Operating equipment such as buffers, carpet extractors, and automatic floor scrubbers
  • Facility security
    Ensuring buildings and premises are locked and secure for the night, and performing facility security checks
  • Waste management
    Collecting and disposing of garbage, biomedical waste, and recyclable materials
  • Grounds maintenance
    Maintaining the grounds and premises, such as mowing grass, trimming hedges, and shoveling snow
  • Emergency clean-up
    Performing emergency clean-up services
  • Training
    Providing orientation and on-the-job training to new employees 
     
A maintenance fitter's job is to install, maintain, and repair industrial machinery, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems, and equipment. They may work in factories, industrial plants, building sites, or transport depots.
