A supervisor manages a team of employees or individual employees, and their responsibilities include:

Planning and organizingSupervisors plan and organize work to achieve the organization's goals. They assign work to employees based on their skills and roles.

Providing guidanceSupervisors provide guidance, feedback, and training to employees. They also set performance goals and ensure employees understand their expectations.

CommunicatingSupervisors communicate with employees and upper management. They relay information from upper management to employees and vice versa.

Enforcing policiesSupervisors ensure employees comply with company and legal policies and procedures. They may also take disciplinary action if needed.

Handling issuesSupervisors handle customer issues and employee disputes. They may also work with HR on labor contract matters.

OnboardingSupervisors train and onboard new employees. They also orient employees to their position and relevant HR and labor contract information.

ReportingSupervisors report performance records and evaluations to HR and senior management. They may also account to their manager for their own performance.
Supervisors may also be responsible for: Controlling budget information, Overseeing the handling of money, Establishing accountability for registers, Ensuring a clean workplace, and Ensuring customer satisfaction.
Supervisors are often referred to as leads, foremen, bosses, overseers, facilitators, monitors, area coordinators, or line-managers.
