An electrical technician, also known as an electrician, installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and equipment:
- Installation: Interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications to design and install electrical systems
- Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance to prevent system breakdowns
- Repair: Diagnose and repair faults in electrical equipment
- Troubleshooting: Test electrical systems and continuity to troubleshoot problems
- Safety: Ensure that all work meets quality and safety standards, and comply with electrical codes and standards
- Inspection: Inspect electrical systems and equipment to identify hazards and defects
- Supervision: Supervise other electricians
- Ordering supplies: Order supplies
Electrical technicians need a variety of skills, including:
