An instrument technician maintains, calibrates, installs, and repairs instruments and equipment to ensure they operate smoothly and efficiently. They work with a variety of instruments, including pneumatic devices, electromedical devices, navigational systems, and control instruments.
Here are some of the responsibilities of an instrument technician:

InstallationInstall control and measurement instruments on new and existing plant equipment

MaintenancePerform regular maintenance, such as adjusting system components and testing functionalities

CalibrationCalibrate components and instruments according to manufacturer specifications

RepairRepair or replace defective parts

TroubleshootingDiagnose faults using pneumatic, electrical, and electronic testing devices

TrainingTrain clients on operation and safety instructions

ResearchResearch new industry instrumentation and study details and instructions to install and use it properly

CollaborationCollaborate with electronic engineers, process technicians, and other plant professionals to design equipment

- An associate degree in electronics, instrumentation, or a related field
