Job Description:
A Fabrication Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining quality control standards throughout the fabrication process, ensuring all manufactured products meet company and industry specifications by implementing quality procedures, conducting inspections, identifying defects, and collaborating with production teams to address quality issues, while also monitoring compliance with relevant safety and environmental regulations. 
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Quality Assurance Implementation:
    • Develop and enforce comprehensive quality control procedures for the fabrication process, including inspection protocols, sampling methods, and documentation requirements. 
       
    • Monitor adherence to quality standards throughout the fabrication stages, identifying potential issues proactively. 
       
    • Conduct regular quality audits and inspections to assess product quality and identify areas for improvement. 
       
  • Defect Management:
    • Investigate root causes of identified defects during fabrication. 
       
    • Implement corrective actions to address quality issues and prevent recurrence. 
       
    • Analyze data on defect trends to identify patterns and prioritize improvement initiatives. 
       
  • Training and Development:
    • Train fabrication staff on quality control procedures, inspection techniques, and documentation requirements. 
       
    • Provide ongoing training to maintain competency and awareness of quality standards. 
       
  • Supplier Management:
    • Evaluate and approve suppliers based on their quality standards and capabilities. 
       
    • Monitor incoming materials to ensure they meet quality specifications. 
       
  • Reporting and Analysis:
    • Generate comprehensive quality reports, including data on defect rates, non-conformance trends, and corrective actions taken. 
       
    • Analyze quality data to identify areas for process improvement and present findings to management. 
       
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Lead initiatives to implement continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma) to optimize fabrication quality and efficiency. 
       
    • Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce waste within the fabrication operations. 
       
 
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of quality control principles and methodologies
  • Experience with fabrication processes and techniques
  • Proficiency in data analysis and statistical process control (SPC)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with production teams
  • Leadership abilities to manage quality initiatives and train staff
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field preferred
